More withdrawn fleets... when are they going to dispose the old ones? Just curious

No doubt when the book value of each vehicle falls sufficiently to be able to scrap them / or they need to clear some space at LH / MS or PE. It doesn't seem as though there is much demand for the B6LE, B10L & Mercs to be sold on for further use.

Are any of those vehicles sought after in the preservationists circle? From my connections, it seems not.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

well by the looks of it, the car park at PE is getting very full and yet no disposals have taken place for a while?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

I guess some of those vehicles are still a bit modern to be hitting the preservation scene, but on saying that, if anyone is intending to save one they will need to secure one sooner rather than latter.

B10L 7122 from Dundee went to Dundee Bus Museum being the first B10L to be delivered in TD livery / first new bus in NX ownership. Dundee has also sold a couple of B10L's on for further use as well

Not even the fire damaged Mercs have gone, I should imagine LH has a bit of clear out as a result of the withdrawn fleet being moved to PE

A preserved b6 would be nice...

Yes in Travel Merry Hill livery, I'd quite like to see 1401 preserved or a former PB B10L in original line 33 livery

600 in TMH livery would be good.

I agree a b6 in TMH livery would be nice, would hope a b10b may be preserved though with them in the training fleet and not being withdrawn, I guess they are not a priority. Merc's it will be nice to see the back of-they look awful. Saw 1630 earlier with rusted lower panels which you never see on b10ls....

I'm not 100% sure, but I was always under the impression (rightly or wrongly) that the Merc 0405N bodywork was mild steel & galvanized, hence why some Mercs are now rusting. Whereas most buses have aluminium bodywork.

Is anyone able to confirm?

1676 and 4003 due to leave WN Friday MS bound

1654 and 1675 WN to MS

1556, 1674 and 1694 in Miller St today. I thought I saw 1628 on the 289 today, but could have been mistaken as it was a good distance away.

Eric,

Was it definitely 1674 that you saw? 1654, 1675 & 1676 have all recently been withdrawn & should have moved to Miller St.

1638 perhaps? They are essentially identical from the outside

4312 YW-WN. May be out tommorow

Maybe Eric meant 1675 and 1674 was a typo error?

Eric Shaw

Thanks Matt, it could have been 1638. 1674 looked as though it had recently arrived at MS. It was parked outside the workshop.
With these recent withdrawals the fleet must be near the minimum required. As Tony has said that there is nothing on order at the moment they may have to put a few back in service, if the present spate of fires and rta's continues.
