You'd have thought so, particularly the un-refurbished ones still in TWM or early NXWM livery, unless PE are hopeful of gaining any more new/nearly new B7RLE from this years orders/subsequent cascades. Unless any have since been withdrawn following the arrival of 1546, PE's Merc fleet total currently stands at 52, which if I remember correctly is nearly as many B6LE they once had allocated

The 15-- series/early 16-- series Merc's are on borrowed time, as they are not Diptac compliant (i.e don't have the built in wheelchair ramps)

Yes The T reg mercs struggled up the hill on the 244 near dudley whereas 1518 the week before did seem to get up the hill easier.

The T/V reg mercs are a lot smoother and the interior is nicer, but the older ones do appear quicker.
