Low bridges

There isn't a low bridge on the 243 is there? I know I should know, but I can't seem to remember, however there has never been a double decker on a 243 board as far as I remember

This is the bridge at Cradley Heath the 53/243 goes under. I thought it was but looking at it on streetview i cant see anything signwise - http://goo.gl/maps/vD5dn

That is close! I reckon you could fit a Spectra under there, but a Trident or E400, perhaps not quite.

Having said that, I'd expect it to have been signposted if it was a danger to buses

Although, it does explain why the only times an Enviro400 has been on the 244 (only happened twice in my memory), it's been on the 9pm 244 which is off a 276, and returns to the 276 after doing the 244, hence avoiding the 243

The Highway rule is all bridges UNDER 5m SHOULD have their height displayed. As Most standard Double Deckers are 4.4m or under if a bridge has no sighnage then it is possible for a decker to go under safely

There is this one in Station Road, Old Hill. According to the stop on Google Maps, the 297 goes under it. Don't knowif it has already been mentioned.

Yes, that bridge is the reason why the 297 never sees deckers

17, as mentioned before, has a low bridge right before its terminus. It's a shame really as it could really do with deckers.
The 72, because of it interworking with the 71, also has to suffer single deckers, even though that too is rammed all the time. The narrow roads and low trees round the back of Marston Green might be a bit tricky for deckers too though, although I did see a picture of a President on there from a while back, presumably on a Sunday when the 71 doesn't run.

Does anyone know the story of what happened at the very low bridge on Crossfield Road, Kitts Green? There's marks on the roof where I was told years and years ago a bus tried to go under it and it got stuck. I'm sure the Diamond 99 goes under there though.

You've got the 38 (and consequently the interworked 34/39) in Walsall. Double decks can not fit under the bridge by Bradford Place.

That bridge must also be in with a shout of one of the lowest (if not THE lowest) with a marked height of 10'6" I think. Just barely enough for Omnilinks.

B7RLE can't fit under bridge at Bradford place there 11.4 scania can just about with a slow tight squeeze.

I'm sure it was a WMT 99 running back to garage in 1996 went the wrong way back.

Remember around 2002/2003 metrobus 2451 was working route 72 went wrong way in Tile Cross and went under low bridge.

2451 was sold off to Oxford city open top tours and later city sightseeing
