1793 didn't last that long in Walsall, withdrawn with knocking engine (what does that mean?)

Tony

Unfortunately 4125 has had to be withdrawn.

It needs a front to back wiring loom (messages from the cab to the engine compartment travel via this) and we haven't got a replacement.

4590 is being prepared for a new MoT to replace it.

Ronnoc

24 solid years of service, is that the longest service of a bus in the West Midlands?

Not by several years. 2526 (JOJ 526) probably holds that record

In the last 6 days 5 scanias have been withdrawn

As troublesome as it's been it's a shame it's gone. Loved seeing it on the 51 and the rest of the B'hams since it was Euro 6'd.

Shame 4623 and the remaining YW Tridents don't go to WA for their last days.

"harsh metallic sound that can indicate serious problems within the engine. It occurs when the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders ignites unevenly or prematurely, creating pressure waves that collide with the piston or other engine components. This can lead to damage if not addressed promptly."

Will this be scrapped or kept as heritage bus?
Or could it end up being donated to the Aldridge Transport Museum?

it would be highly unlikely to 4125 kept or donated, if they dont have a spare wiring loom, i would have thought the cost a new one prohibitive otherwise why not simply make / order a new one, more than likely i would expect it to be the nd of the road for 4125
3000 F300 XOF

If it's anything like those found in cars, the wiring loom is a whole mass of wires and cabling, with various plugs and connectors that fit onto sensors and equipment.
Depending on what's wrong with the wiring loom, it might be possible to repair it, but you likely still have the job of stripping the bus apart to get to it.

If the faulty loom is causing communication issues between instruments in the cab and the engine compartment, it is presumably not safe to drive.

Best anyone could probably hope for is that this could be used as a 'donor' vehicle for parts to restore some other similar-aged Trident.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to QE Hospital | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

May be used for the sisters of it in the training fleet as there is still a few running around from that batch

Gareth

It's the interior of 4125 that would be of most interest to preservationists. Anyone with the resources could buy an old trident, but a full set of good quality original seating is like rocking horse poo.

Westy

Didn't it have a MOT in the last few months or so?

(I know it was said, it would be it's last MOT anyway!)

Hasn't lasted long since then surely?

2526 was withdrawn in 1973 - 2533 lasted until 1977, so 27 yrs when withdrawn from AG (and is preserved).
