Finally got to go on a 805. OK trains. Quite a smooth journey.  Insides are OK.  Avanti were as disorganised.  Train consisted of 2x5 car sets. One set was locked because they didn't have enough staff. At least I got to use first class, also manages to get a full refund

According to Real Time Trains Yesterday there were two Avanti class 390 Pendolinos a 9 car and 11 car doubled up from Lime Street to Euston Via Birmingham making 20 carriages this has either be an error or one unit was connected to a failed unit. Do 20 carriages even fit into any of the stations on that route apart from maybe New Street And Euston and Crewe as the Caledonian Sleeper stops there

Will be an error. Most likely a set swap and both the original and new unit were showing in the system for a bit as now only 9/11 cars are showing. Seen it happen elsewhere when disruption is occurring.

Yes I believe there is disruption past Carlisle so services are Terminating there and not going to Glasgow or Edinburgh I didn't think it was possible for 20 car Pendos

 there has been considerable disruption in the last few days on the WCML
  however one of the two remaining 7 car 807XXX  avanti units previously unseen in service   (807009)  in immaculate  trim
  made a trip from Euston to L'pool and return via Bhm New st and  another trip from Euston to L'pool arriving on merseyside after midnight on Sunday night

For the last nine days the Trent Valley has been closed in order to install the bridge taking HS2 under it just outside Lichfield with the opportunity taken to do other work - rather strangely none of the NR publicity seems to mention the HS2aspect of the blockade and the bit on the HS2 website mistakenly says 2023! On reopening this morning OLE problem discovered between Colwich and Stafford on the down which is still ongoing.

Seperate planned blockades shut the line north of Carlisle  at the weekend.

Was mentioned in the Express and Star and I believe the Carlise Issues were due to an Avanti service failing and the Overhead Lines were then damaged or they failed and caused the Avanti to fail, so I believe NR were fixing them. If they have fixed it now then there always seems to be something going on North of Carlise.
