It actually suits it! Doesn't look like a 21 year old bus!
I've personally never been a fan of the Geminis (I think my experience on the 72 route for a number of years has tainted it a bit  ) but I will say it does look very tidy in the grey and red stripe livery. Does still stand up to some of the other bus designs currently in use.

Another livery I have to say looks really nice is the new Emirates livery on the E400MMCs. I don't know what it is but it just looks really good. I think the red fits our buses quite well and generally stands out a lot.

Have to agree with you there on the E400MMC, 6886 looks absolutely stunning with that red.

I like to think Geminis adorn route branding particularly well as I loved the yellow Outer Circle branding they once had.

Alas, they're becoming a rarity now.
4 different liveries since new.

Is that a record?

I'm assuming I've missed something here, but why has a 21 year old withdrawn bus been repainted in the new livery?

i heard its use for something in aston (fgt if it was university or fire service) and they probably wanted it looking nice for whatever reason

6775 has been debranded from the 8/X8

really dumb question, but why are they being debranded from their numbers? i thought it looked really cool, and it was always interesting to see the 49 on a 6-branded bus, or the X20/1/2 brand on a 47.
local routes:
20 - QE Hospital to Bromsgrove
20A - QE Hospital to Cofton Hackett
45 - Birmingham to Longbridge
47 - Birmingham to Longbridge
49 - Solihull to Rubery Great Park
63 - Birmingham to Frankley

+ 19, 55, 145, 145A, 182, 183

That's part of the reasoning, by debranding the vehicles it means they can be more easily allocated to other routes as and when needed, rather than restricting them for use on the routes they are branded for, causing less confusion for passengers too.

Also, it means that vehicles can be transferred more easily between garages as and when needed.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Less we have a situation like a 50 branded bus being loaned to PB last summer
