The article itself doesn't tell us anything we don't know already.

As I've mentioned before, it's just 'old news' being regurgitated as 'new news'.

At the rate this project is progressing, franchising will be complete before this cross-city route starts running!
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

The bus priority measures cited in that article are all well and good but what about the city centre? It seems it's gridlocked every Saturday these days. I've never seen so many 82s and 87s stuck either inbound or outbound at Paradise Circus as I did this afternoon. I still think these cross-city routes will be a disaster reliability-wise.

Every single Saturday it's grid-locked at horsefairs island. Bristol/Uni routes are also getting screwed at that island. Cross city route work at all unless its bus lanes the whole time.
Your new favourite 61/63 late night driver 😂

if they dont franchise the routes by the time sprint comes out i can see smaller operators competing on corridors offering better reliability and which will attract more passengers

diamond do this on the 50 but they are no different to NX. it could really work out well on the 97. on a saturday when albion are playing NX dont divert the buses early enough until the drivers are stuck and report it.

then the smaller operator would be the only bus on meadway side and impatient passengers will hop on theirs to wherever.

23/24/94/95 doesnt seem too bad, walsall corridor has plenty of bus infastructure too. walsall-coventry would be a really long route however!

Do you really think small operators are going to do anything in the current climate? They are closing down allover the country at the moment, expect more to go with the increase in NI and minimum wages from Today. Another local one that closed on Friday was Stanways in Staffordshire.

Sprint will probably die a death, its not economically viable, its costing too much already & its not even on the streets, this country has gone mad

Your second statement seems to contradict the first!

Go on, how can a smaller operator compete on a corridor and be more reliable, when they face the same issues that NX do, namely traffic congestion?

Diamond also operate on the 50 but they are no more reliable than NX are.

not running cross city

for example albion day where the western side of sprint presumably by NXWM would be chaos, the eastern side presumably by a smaller operator would be finw

If your on about Albion matchdays the 82/87 don't tend to get affected by that as much as the 74 which is planned to go as a cross city route to Chelmsley Wood or somewhere I believe. The 74 diverts through Smethwick on these days itself
Local Routes
NXWM 34, 37, 39, 79
DIA 310
WCT 65
Bit Further Away
NXWM 529, 25, 41, 11, 11A, 40, 47
DIA 326, 57, 23, 41A,
