I was under the impression that Birmingham City Council wanted the land so they could develop it into more new homes as part of the wider Perry Barr 'masterplan'. I seem to recall some figure of £12m being quoted that was paid to National Express so they could build the new facility on Aston Lane.

So much for a Commonwealth Games 'legacy'!
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Sold for £2.1m on 28/01/2020 according to Land Registry. Presumably TfWM/WMCA will now have their eyes on it, in preparation for franchising.

Would you need 2 garages so close to each other

More likely the WMCA will want to acquire the current Aston Lane site.

Will be interesting to see how much they're prepared to pay for it, considering the £15.5m cost to build it, according to this old BBC News article:

Not to mention the costs to electrify it fully - no doubt the YMCA will, downstream, claim the credit for so doing. Interesting to see how they deal by with Yardley Wood seeing as S Birmingham/Solihull is the last tranche of proposed franchising!!

WMCA must have read the same article :) £15m is the assumed acquisition cost in their franchising document

They reckon £4.4 million each for Park Lane and Acocks Green

Could you point me towards the section in the franchising documents where I can see this please?

Sorry - one of the hazards of not checking before sending - the auto corrections made by US centric software are crazy - it added a spurious 'by' into the post as well!!

I got E216 on the 907 at Hawthorn Road going to City, it was early and already at the stop at 1010 with hazards on. Then I looked at bus times and it left Sutton at 0950 instead of 1000 and was approx 10 minutes early up to the Hawthorn Road. Could this had been down to the timings on the ticket machine being wrong ?
E216 proceed towards City on time for the remainder of the journey.
