A freshly painted 4424 - SN15 LPU was noted on the 127s this afternoon.

I'd assume that would replace 4202. Has 4202 left yet?

Also, it should've probably been numbered 4422 instead given that two other buses sat numerically between the former 5465 and 5468. Arriva's fleet numbering/renumbering system is quite senseless...

Exactly, why not have a national numbering scheme

No - I've eyeballed 4202 twice this week, Wednesday & Friday, also on the 127.

It's on the 5 today according to Bustimes but who knows with Arriva's track record

Those Liverpudlian buses are crying for a repaint. The bus washes up there must have been quite harsh on the paintwork!

I'm not entirely sure why they needed to be renumbered in the first place, as Beds & Bucks is a part of the Midlands numbering system. In fact up until recently the head office for Beds & Bucks was Thurmaston and all legal lettering said "Arriva Midlands"! 4400 and 4401 kept their numbers when they transferred from Derby to Aylesbury many years ago - they weren't renumbered to be in the 54XX range

Nice coincidence, a few photos uploaded showing how scabby the ex Merseyside ones are.

And theoretically they could have alternatively simply switched the first digit from a 5 to a 4, therefore making them 4465 and 4468.

The fleet manager retired or redundancy a few years back. It's any man's game now to number the fleet.
Agree though, it would be a doddle to renumber and have a midlands/south fleet list. Not sure why it's been done??

Or one for the entire group as most of the other big groups do.

The ex-Liverpool E400s also have had some nonsense renumbering, where some kept their original NW numbers and others got renumbered in an illogical order. I think it would have been better to simply swap the second 4 in their numbers for a 3 and renumber them into the vacant 43xx series, putting them behind the 14/64 plates in the 44xx series. The E200 MMCs from elsewhere also suffer from a lack of proper order between the fleet number and the registration plates. But only the Midlands can be to blame for the way the Pulsar Geminis were numbered.

Speaking of numbers, 4401 seems to be tracking as the old 4101.

I also spotted the new 4425 parked in a layby on the A6 northbound north of the Broadnook roundabout.

4760 has not been used this month and the MOT expires on the 13th, wonder if that's the end for it

It also appears to have broken down the last time it was used so almost certainly the end as there's no point in repairing it for less than a week of use.

I noticed it yesterday parked in the naughty boys corner so I guess your probably right
