Quote from: Wumpty on August 20, 2024, 07:06:48 PMFrom a driver's perspective (from the couple I've driven) the cab layout appears better ergonomically in the Gemini - it looks cosier and better laid out, though in fairness to the Trident, it's still a very capable machine to drive too.
Liked the cabs on these although the NS mirror was tricky to see out off due to the cab door and screen getting in the way, lovely to drive however

Call me biased, but speaking from the perspective of a bus passenger, there is no bus that moves quite the Gemini.

I'm happy I managed to do a loop on the Outer Circle (Before the split) as well doing a trip on the X12 from Birmingham to Solihull on a Gemini before it's time was up.

If I had the money, I'd happily buy one for the sake of hoping to drive it some day! A fine bus that has served it's region well.

The missing WB batch of Geminis 4700 - 4717 06 plates Dudley Road branded Tooth paste livery, these were simply excellent buses with much nicer cabs than the 03 to 05 plates variants, i recall a few at WB Repainted in NXD livery, any one know the where abouts of this batch of Geminis, i know Mcgills or something like it bought NXD a while back, probably scrapped them my guess. when i use to to read the dundee comments lots of resentment towards NXG

According to bus times 7 remain with Dundee. Some have been in use on Dundee school services this morning and 2843 (4717) on the 17.

cheers for the link, good to see there still about real shame that batch got moved, wished they were still at WB, majority of drivers loved driving these GEM's unlike the platinums

The rest of the batch were moved to mcgills scotland east in stirling where they still operate service routes. Scotland east also have the WF lites and used to have the e200mmcs until one caught fire and they sold them all.

The Real 4777

A good day for the Volvos on WB5 yesterday with a clutch of returnees operating in stealth mode, including 4486, 4519, 4688 and 4692.

Over the course of the day 4484, 4506, 4515 and 4695 were also on the route, encouraging me to go and sit in traffic queues for my rather bizarre personal gratification (on 4486, 4506 and the three 46xx).

I also got a ride over almost the whole length of the 5 route yesterday on 4506. I didn't notice all those non tracking vehicles and used bus times to time my connection on to the 5 to avoid 4746 and 2234 which were also on there. I was travelling in the off peak.

I also got a journey on 4613 (on the 76) and 4725 (on the 18) - those Tridents and E400 Tridents sounded immensely powerful thrashing along, and (those two at least) are in remarkably good condition.

The Real 4777

First of the WB 46xx batch has been retired, 4691. Managed a quick trip to West Brom on 4486 while waiting for the car to be MOT'd, with ex-Cov 4763 back. Both felt decent, strong performers.

Two more Tridents transferring from Wolverhampton to expand the Walsall fleet to 8, the new arrivals being 4597 and 4599. Plenty of Endangered Species options around here now!!!

Seeing Walsall seems to be getting a small collection of them together(presumbly this will be the final move before withdrawal!), is there likely to be anything planned?

Half of WB'S 4600s 05 plates lying around the garage,
4744 been dragged from the back carpark which has been home for what seems like months , it's in workshop bay with its turbo manifold assembly lying under it removed,
Scrap bus pile is quite something now plus dead buses against back wall 3 lines deep.
