nBus Travel Area

It's a bit weird that they include Codsall/Bilbrook/Perton/Pattingham/Wombourne/Himley/Swindon/Kinver/Gannow/Rubery/Hollywood/Wythall/Baginton/Keresley in the nBus area but not Kenilworth, Water Orton and Coleshill (areas that generally have services geared towards a West Midlands town).

I suppose its because the most regular buses are to Stourbridge (currently the 242) just like Perton also has a regular bus service to Wolverhampton (the 10/10A). Presumably they are considered commuter villages.

Does anyone know whether Staffordshire, Worcestershire & Warwickshire County Councils pay a contribution to TfWM related to those nbus areas outside the WMCA as the benefit to passengers can be significant.

Take buying a day ticket. Where as the cost difference if you're outside the zone is negligible for a NX route (ie +20p), on a Diamond route you're looking at £9 compared to £4.80.

Near my neck of the woods it might just be that WorcsCC's funding contribution to the tendered 664/665 is sufficient to then include Hollywood/Wythall within the nbus zone.

However a route like Diamond's 242 to Kinver is commercial so it would make sense that there'd be some form of tariff between Staffs and TfWM related to Kinver being included within the nbus area.

Even then though, those shire county residents benefiting from being within the nzone presumably pay the same rate of council tax (and specifically transport levy element) as those outside.

Although originally commercial, service 242 is now a tendered service run on behalf of Staffs CC. 

Council Tax payers outside the WMCA do not pay the same as those within as Council Tax is set by the local authorities (eg Birmingham, Wolverhampton). 

As far as I'm aware the County Councils do not make any contribution to TfWM.

Thanks for clarifying. And it makes sense the tendering Authority for the 242 is StaffsCC but then less sense to me why Kinver remains in the nbus area given residents there will pay the same South Staffs District council tax rates as a resident of say Featherstone or Essington who do not benefit from being in the nzone.

I presume its because originally Kinver was seen as more important as a commuter area into the West Midlands just like Perton and Wombourne. Alternately its because the main operator in Kinver was WMT while Featherstone and Essington hadn't been served by WMPTE/WMT for many years.

Wmt or Nxwm havnt served kinver for a few years now 
I'm told that when pn take over the 15 to wombourne nbus will be valid in wombourne as well so looks like tfwm do some sort of deals 
But the new diamond 25 to kiddiminster nbus is only valid to the border unless tfwm do a deal

Doubt very much that Worcester CC will do a deal as Kidderminster is not really close enough to the TfWM area, just like Lichfield.
