Thanks for posting - some great pictures there. And a rare working of a 'jumbo' Fleetline on the Outer Circle.

Crew operated it would appear. Looks like a YW 42xx Fleetline behind it. Can't place where in Selly Oak it was taken, but it has changed a lot since then.

The Jumbo is one of the few allocated to Acocks Green, mainly for the 36, and it does indeed look crew-operated as the "Pay as you enter" plates have been turned round to blank: standard practice when buses were used on crew-operated routes.  Maybe the photo was taken on a Saturday.

The location in Selly Oak looks like Oak Tree Lane immediately before Bristol Road.  The main 11C stop was there before it was moved across the Bristol Road to Harborne Lane.

Yes it is indeed Oak Tree Lane with the bus about to cross Bristol Road onto Harborne Lane. I'd forgotten that the stop used to be before the lights rather than after, even though I lived in Selly Oak when this photo would have been taken.

And proof that the 11s ran in convoy even in the 1970s...

It does look like a YW YOX20xK Fleetline behind - did YW run any journeys on the 11 by 1977 or would this have been a loan bus? I used the 11 every day for years from 1980 but by then it was run from Perry Barr, Acocks Green and Harborne garages.

Yes, of course, the luxurious mustard Austin camper van is obscuring Katie Road. Apart from the stop not being there that view hasn't changed that much.

This has intrigued me too.  I believe the only YW appearances on the 11 were schoolday short workings (which, by the way, were OPO by the mid-70s).  It could well be a loan bus.

Perry Barr had the last five of the batch, 4231-5, but the number plate does look like YOX 20xK as you say.
