Since the Withdrawn thread is filling with a debate about AG and New Bus Orders. I thought I'll start a thread. @Stu feel free to bring the posts into this post save it being everywhere.

Feel free to discuss transfers of older buses which are still young e.g. when PN received 6711-18 to make the X10 platinum in 2016/17.

As far as I'm aware for PN post 2010. They have received the following.

2012 they received E200s for 222, B7s to replace the mercs on single decker routes,

2015 they received the new e400 mmcs for the 9 and some for 141 also received 863-70 e200s for local routes

2018 they received 28 E400 mmcs for 9 and X10.

Don't think they have had anything new since then.

You forgot the Streetdecks...

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

Streetdecks buses the whole workforce would like to forget

Stu

As I commented elsewhere, the reality is that ALL garages have received new vehicles at some point, and yes it is true that some garages have had to wait a little longer than others.

Buses are built to last anything between 15 to 25 years, and they do cost money, so as much as anyone would love it if buses could be replaced every five years, it's just not going to happen.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

The streetdecks aren't too bad at Walsall, the deisiel ones anyway, the hydrogen ones are good too just fuelling issue which is not a bus or company fault.

And the beauty of the engineering team at, and sub contractors employed by, National Express is that they can extend the life and refurbish buses to "as new" condition, past this 15 to 25 year cycle.

Granted, some buses have had better success with this process, some not so, but the main thing is that where new buses can't be purchased (sometimes because manufacturers can't supply), then NX CAN invest in a refurb programme to provide a fleet that is fit for purpose and service.

In fact, refurbs (and the much criticised vinyl wrapped buses) can create the illusion for the travelling public that they HAVE got new buses on a route (refurbed and repainted CV E440s are a perfect example with the passengers I speak to in Wednesfield). New buses doesn't have to mean brand new, just a new type, make, model or brand like Platinum with vehicles that were 4-5 years already in service, as much as us enthusiasts may not like or agree with it.

You only have to look at the likes of Travel Express/Let's Go to see that buses much younger than NX Tridents have contributed to their downfall (appeal pending, of course!).
Autofare 3 - the ticket that laughs in the face of contactless!

New buses are typically allocated to routes & and garages that will generate the most passenger growth & ultimately profit growth. The investment needs to pay for itself.
