Sometimes a non tracked journey bus does turn up probably 3 or 4 times out of 10, YW for instance, I can think of a few fleets like 4615 and 4733 have been seen in service. My house is very close to YW garage. But yeah when YW buses are physically missing certain journeys some days and then when your next bus does turn up it is rammed completely at peak times in particular as a result drivers are having to skip busy bus stops because the single decker is too full.  76/18 and sometimes 49 routes spring to mind.

On the 27 route and that bridge in Bournville, there is a solution available there that would provide minimal disruption. Send the buses prior to the bridge down Franklin Way to Mary Vale Road. Go over the bridge at Mary Vale Road. Then turn Victoria Road into a one-way street northbound, back to Bournville Lane, continue journey. 

For the return, from Bournville Lane turn Lea House Road into a one-way street southbound, send buses down there to Mary Vale Road, then a reverse of the outbound route. Profile the corners either end at Victoria Road and Lea House Road to discourage parking and allow the bus a wider turn in.

That's just if you want to maintain the route as close as possible to Bournville station if the bus cannot get under the bridge. The one-way streets would probably make travelling around those roads easier for the residents as well, as there's a minimal amount of disruption involved.

I don't think the roads mentioned could reliably accommodate buses of any type even if those modifications were made. 

I also think there is an issue with Franklin Way being privately owned which rules out bus use. I might be wrong with this but I vaguely recall a period of a few days back in the late noughties where the 27 had to divert during the daytime. It initially used Mary Vale Road - Franklin Way - Bournville Lane but was stopped from doing this by then owners Cadbury. It had to use the full length of Mary Vale instead and turn right onto Linden Rd.

If that stops buses from being able to use it I wonder if bcc/tfwm could take it into public ownership like other roads are?

Someone did comment on my website article to point out that rail replacement buses are able to serve Bournville station by using the stops outside Cadburys, with an assumption made that they use Franklin Way to get to Mary Vale Road and then back onto Linden Road to/from Kings Norton station.

4603 seen being driven around Perry Common and Kingstanding with a few drivers aboard. Any idea why?

Yes it is, but the non Euro 6 ones are rare on any Birmingham service.

So it is a rare working 4567 shouldn't be entering the City.

A bus that isn't normally or shouldn't be on a route but is, is indeed noteworthy. Regardless of type.

For the past four years pretty much any compatible bus ends up on most routes. The noteworthy workings thread has always been problematic and argumentative. Surely it's time to shut it down. Plenty of other threads (off route, on loan, garage threads).

I agree and the same goes for route branded buses off route. There's more better things to post then if a 23/24 Platinum is on the X2 for example. 

Everything has died down since BusTimes became live and everyone can see, I still don't think the same users who spam the RBOR thread have sometimes actually seen the bus in person they are reporting.

Have got a photo of 4567 on Route 3, but that was back in 2017 (before the clean air zone, I guess)

I'm I right to say that I saw E171 at YW Garage yesterday? It certainly looked like an electric, given the style of livery on the front (red, with "free travel" written on the side). I couldn't see the fleet number on the side due to the way the bus was positioned, and to get close would have meant trespassing.

Yeah, it's E171. Loan in from Perry Barr.
