Original line mistakes

We're the mistakes in the making of the original line application.

I think mistakes where made and think the  powers to be could have used what we know as Jewellery line (Snow Hill to Stourbridge) as this had two new stops created plus a terminal at snow hill.   They could have used trains/trams like Tyne and Wear or T68's like Manchester Metro, then create what we know as line one From Snow Hill to Wolverhampton

Maybe used the rest of the old line from Priestfield into Wolverhampton instead of the Bilston Road,  as there always seems to be a problem on that section!

The argument was that the proposal to use the then available Low Level station site was inconvenient for the city centre. It should also be noted that St George's was intended to be part of a loop around Wolves serving Lichfield Street,  Queen Square, Victoria Street and Cleveland Street.  The loop was then changed to run Pipers Row, Lichfield Street and Market Street but seems to have been dropped completely now.

The Jewellery Line couldn't possibly have accomodated a 10 minute frequency train service plus a 6 minute frequency tram service, which was the original intention, though the 6 minute frequency ran only during the morning peak and not since Covid. The great disadvantage of tram / trains using existing stations is that they need high boarding platforms and these are not practical in the street sections. In Manchester stops on the street sections have to be on short sections of reserved track.
