History questions time. What year was Coventry promoting a Sprint service? IIRC one route was to Warwick Uni and another along the Foleshill Rd. Also what killed off the idea?

That one? Article is dated 2006. Hazard a guess that they didn't get the money from the government due to the whoopsie that happened in 2008.

Found a consultation brochure on Coventry Sprint. Thought I would share some of what it says.

Cost estimate £85m
30 km route Nuneaton rail station - Coventry rail station - Kenilworth rail station
10 km segregated from existing traffic
3 axle artics
Approx 60 seated and 60 standing pass
Max speed 50 mph
6 service an hour over central section
3 services an hour over full route - 37 stops
Stops further apart - every 650 metres - than other bus services
Ricoh area to city journey times - 17 mins car - 23 mins bus - 11 mins Sprint.

and then it was canned.
