Why did NXWM get 4697 (YN55PXB)?  They only have one of this type.

Just re-done my website.  Check it out to see all my photos.  Updated almost every day!

4697 along with 4698 are seed vehicles.

They bought them to test them out. I would think, drivers, engineers and management put them through their paces and well the E400s won the battle given how many were ordered. NX only ordered 5 OmniCities.

No they don't. They have 4777-4781 which are all in service at Perry Barr.

Just to add on Tony's message, 4697 is a N94, and 4777-81 are N230's. Different chassis & slightly different bodywork

Yes I know that. 4697 has no rear window on the lower deck.

I know there different chassis, but I thought he meant NX only had the one Omnicity. My mistake indeed. Apologies

Are you sure about that? I just thought the lower rear window was on the opposite side to 4777-4781.

Yes it does have a rear window. I think it was in the middle rather than offset on one side like 4777-81

4777-4781 all have that small window for the rear lower deck window.
Another difference is that 4697's rear seats were all in one line.  4777-4781 are split in to two parts, with crappy legroom on the nearside area.

@Sh4318 you are correct 4697/4777-81 all have a small rear window, only 4697's is on the offside whilst 4777-81 are nearside

That's the biggest difference.  4697 is bodied by East Lancs and the rest have Scania bodies.

If you lok at them, that's the first difference you see.  And 4697 has a EL OmniDekka body whereas the others have Scania OmniCity DD bodies.

4697 has been nowhere near East Lancs.

Use the main fleetlist for details, not guesswork. It was bodied at the Scania plant in Poland
