Maybe the usual traffic problems between five ways and city had something to do with it, but just passed two Sandwell Travel darts on the 80 within 5 mins on me way out of town on the 98

Similar to the "most unreliable services" thread, just somewhere to vent at the poorly planned road junctions that exist around the region.

I'll start with Perry Barr, especially the Wellington Road roundabout coming from town. It's coming to the point sometimes that it genuinely is quicker even for people who have trouble walking to get the 934/5/6/997 to Welhead Lane and walk back to the One Stop / Train station / 11 stops

In case anyone on here is interested, Vintage trains are doing a railtour today to Carlise and back, and the return portion will be steam hauled (double headed I belive by Earl of Mount Edgcombe and Duchess of Sutherland) through Wolverhampton, Perry Barr and Birmingham New Street en route to Tyseley. This will only be the second time a steam train has come through New Street since the 60's (first was last year)

Times can be found here -->clicky<-- but basically Wolves at 21:50, Perry Barr 22:07 and New Street 22:24-22:28

All down to personal opinion really. I think a region like the West Midlands (the black country area in particular) with so many individual towns and villages and a whole host of dual carriageways / disused railways / even old canals linking them all together is perfect for an entire network of routes, hell I even got spectacularly bored and spent an age putting together various ideas for an entire network and even travelled most of it to check it'd work.

But then others will say we don't need trams and that's that we can't argue the case.

And with the culture of NIMBYism that is prevalent these days, I don't see any of it happening

was thinking about this the other day... If just for spotting and general bus watching, not photographing, I say sat at the top end of the Square Peg, by Old Square, with a pint or two, I happily sit there and watch the world go by sometimes

National Express West Midlands / Re: 289 suggestion

Personally... I'd say bring back the 258, direct route for people in that area to Birmingham, perhaps rerouted slightly to make it even more direct (ie, same route as 140 between Blackheath and the city)

Approx how many people went on the Lance Tour - only in all the photos there seems a distinct lack of people!!

16 in total this time. We had 22 of us on the previous tour.

I would imagine the reason it looks empty in the photographs is because most of the photos were taken by people on the trip so would be off the bus when photographs were being taken.

Anyone interested in this sort of thing should be advised to keep Saturday 21st September free. There may be a nice event to attend on that day. I can say no more at the moment.

Dammit, I'll be in a forest in deepest Gloucestershire with me scouts then...

This morning the X51 did it again, driver seemed surprised when I told him... They haven't really done all that well in telling the drivers have they?

4868 route branded for the 51 was on the X51 this evening.

Wonder how many saw the branding from a distance and were left disappointed as it flew past  ::)

Lets be honest, even when its an X51 branded Gemini people still to this day try to get on/off in Newtown... Hopeless...

Just to Pheasey

No bus to Barr Beacon evening & Sunday now, is that right?

(Was 997!)

Touchéé, although the 997 still serves the cat and fiddle and the crossroads on the other side of the hill, so the only thing really is the beacon itself, and lets face it most people drive there or i guess would willingly walk from the new 997 route. Thinking about it I reckon the 936 could run evening and Sundays as well, replace the 935A?

I was expecting at least earlier buses on the 907 on Sunday, the earliest arrival is 10:25, surely there is demand for it

Lol, there being a demand for something doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, take night buses as an example. Sunday mornings are a joke for getting anywhere, its quicker for me to walk the 5 miles to work than to attempt it by bus.

Maybe they reviewed those areas and nothing needed changing apart from Kingstanding and Pheasey.

Entirely plausible, but personally struggling with that idea

With most of the Omnicities on the 907, was a bit surprised to see two on the 67 this afternoon.

Also, just got off a toothpaste enviro on the X51. Nearly missed it cause I saw the toothpaste coming round the corner and assumed it wouldn't be my bus

I wasn't expecting the extent of changes that we've seen in Sandwell & Coventry, but I thought it would have amounted to more than it eventually did, especially given it was delayed

That's what I don't particularly understand, why they had to delay it when there wasn't that many changes. The only other reason I can imagine for delaying would be because someone, somewhere, forgot, and even for NWM I think that's a bit far-fetched
