This has been shared on my Facebook page just now, I presume it is an extract from a company memo?

"Blatant profiteering" indeed! :D Once the news outlets get hold of this, it'll be like last year all over again, people getting outraged because the single fares went up, but overlooked the introduction of the off-peak Daysaver, as well as the decrease in Swift fares.
£1.50 short hop is much needed, though could be open to abuse like the people that ask for a city hop and go to wellhead lane!
Is there an official link yet?
Mixed feeling about the £1.50 fare and its wording. It's great for passengers to get a big reduction like that. But I personally think more people should be walking instead of a short bus journey. And no I'm not talking about the elderly or disabled or when it's raining or snowing. There's one particular stop that my bus goes past. It's like a fight to the death with the 17 buggies that are usually waiting there. Particularly on a Sunday. They could walk to town from there in 10minutes.
New fares are now advertised on 6112.

I would like the companys revenue team to be expanded.
Would like to see something similar to London where inspectors board buses in uniform or not, check tickets, get off, cross over the road, get on another bus and visa versa. Randomly targeting buses along the route as well as at 'gateway points'.
Would create a good revenue for the company in fines, deter smokers and deter future fare dodgers.

Totally agree. Also, very early morning but especially late night checks. It's a free for all on a lot of routes!

They need more power, it's just a slight inconvenience for fare Dodgers to walk the last few stops

It's great when theirs police with the revenue team then you see the fare dodgers really sh*t themselves !
I'm currently in Rotterdam
The inspectors here are mostly plain clothed, swarm the vehicle and take no shit, not even from tourists
It's quite funny to watch when people get caught
What's happening with the travel card prices I take it they will go up a couple of quid in January?
What's the nBus day ticket going up to,if it's being increased at all?
Swift monthly direct debit for nBus is increasing from £59 to £61.50
Day nbus up 20p off peak price frozen
Funny, how the peak fares go up, after all they represent a captive audiance although it's usually presented as a way of reducing overcrowding.
Delayed boarding bus the other day at 7am when passenger in front of me asked for a £4 Daysaver!
Fares could have been frozen as I'm sure adoption of smartcards by NX will increase revenue.

Why will the adoption of smart cards increase revenue? Every passenger that swaps will be paying less, and those people that currently overpay through not having the correct change will no longer overpay

Thanks for that. Will be most helpful when I'm in Birmingham in May.

Out of date tickets (I think they are called products) on smartcards are immediately detected
End of scratchcards will collect more revenue from the likes of a female who sat opposite me on a 37 who scratched it off when the revenue squad boarded. She'd already done the year in advance!
Passback. A girl on 20 dropped her pass on floor so that a girl behind could pick it up and use it.
E&S have picked up the story on the Jan fare increases, at least they've finally changed the picture.....

Has the peak short hop been scrapped? I notice it now says £1.50 for off peak, but no mention of a peak time equivalent.
I'm also unclear of the city hop, is this just an increase from £1 to £1.50 at all times of day? Frozen on the Metro at £1 though 😃

The peak Short Hop was scrapped at the start of this year.
And so it was! Thanks Stu. I wonder why I never noticed that last year. Possibly as I'd just got my swift card, so any kind of cash fare was irrelevant to me.
Used to get City hop there and back and now it seems cheaper to get a monthly direct debit :-(
The people losing out are the ones who regularly buy cash fares and don't realise how much they could save by switching to weekly/monthly tickets instead.
My NX Regional Faresaver Direct Debit goes up £2 to £56.50 from next month.
£56.50 x 12 months = £678 for the year
£678 ÷ 52 weeks = £13.03 per week
£678 ÷ 364* days = £1.86 per day (*no services on Christmas Day of course)
To me, this still represents excellent value for money, considering I catch 2 buses every Monday to Friday to get to and from work, and then I'm still using buses at the weekend.
I remember when I was a uni student and I took advantage of NX's 12 month student pass which was like £3XX a year !
Steal of the century if you ask me !
