Is there any truth to the rumours I have heard on here about a potential Diamond takeover of the company?

Hi Hansons Buses Official,

Separate topic created and set as sticky  ;)

A few questions from me:

1. What was the reasoning behind selling the 2 x 58 plate short E200's and replacing them with older 52 plate ex Dawson Rental Darts?

2. With the size of the current fleet, is the Lye depot pretty much at capacity?

3. Are there any plans in the immediate future to buy any new buses whilst Euro 5 is still available?

4. Would Hansons ever consider extending the 004 from Harborne up to the QE Hospital & terminate it there to offer new links?

Hi Winston.
1. End of lease/Nice buses at the right price.
2. Its not full yet.
3. Not on the radar for new buses but another addition shortly.
4. Not at present.Concerned about making the route unreliable.

Hi Hansons,

1. Is the plan to repaint all the 52 plate Darts that are currently in allover white in to fleet colours eventually?
2. Roughly how many extra buses could the existing depot accommodate?
5. Do Hansons have any aspirations to get bigger? Or are they happy with their current size?

Hi Winston.
1 Thats the plan!
2 Depending on bus size only a couple i think. But there are a couple of "donor buses" in the way.
5 Open minded. Always open to improving the bottom line and we have a history of setting up our own routes when an opportunity exists.

What is the reasoning behind the exact fare policy that you have in place in your vehicles I'm aware that Diamond don't use it anywhere and neither do they intend to.

However I have noted Arriva do use exact fare on some services in the West Midlands area as I have noticed exact fare machines installed on some of there vehicles operating in Wolverhampton.

I just wonder thats all I can understand NXWM and Arriva having the policy in place as both are owned by nationwide company's but I don't quite understand the logic of Hansons having the policy in place when they are not owned by a nationwide company.

as a guess quicker boarding times  & safety as the money will be in the fare box rather than drivers bag unless they have anther reason

Hi Will.
The exact fare policy has been in place on all NXWM services since WMPTE days(nothing to do with being a national company)Arriva use exact fare around Wolverhampton but not nationally.
Its been in place on our buses for many years(people are used to it so it does`nt cause any issues). It is safer for the driver as he does`nt need to carry his takings about when not on duty.It is undoubtedly quicker for boarding passengers and contributes to it being so much easier for the driver to stay to timetable.Hope that helps.

With the tender changes in October, would you be planning to bid for either Evening or Sunday tenders to strengthen your presence on routes that you do Mon/Sat (208,226)

We will look at all possibilities when the tenders appear though we don`t bid on everything.

Hi Hansons,

Maybe you could clear something up for us.

It was suggested that Hansons would be withdrawing from the X26 during June by Jon, but as yet there is no registration lodged to cancel the service on VOSA. Is this actually planned?

Thanks for your question.
There is no plan to deregister the X 26 at this time.

KX06 LXO is correct
MX60 BXA will be 9207/4 (others of that batch I know are 9207/x)

I cannot work out what RXL should be from that number I suspect it should be 2013/x

DV0 should also be in the format xxxx/x probably 9223/x

Hi,

1. Do Hansons intend to paint E200's 2600 & 2601 in to fleet livery once the current repaint program for the 52 plate Darts is complete?

2. Isn't 2600 a larger E200 than the other four? Both Tony's fleetlist & Bus lists on the web have it as a 29 seater, but I'm sure it is a larger 37 seater when I've seen it on the 226. (Already answered below)

Good luck with the 004 frequency increase from tomorrow btw. Hanson's seem to have done well building that back up.

Hi Winston .
Were trying to work through the fleet at the moment, though we have`nt got a particular order as its probably down to major down time for other issues.
Thanks for the good wishes regarding the 004.

As a heads up for all on here.Look out for 2610 which is carrying a 70th birthday greeting to Margaret from the staff.2601 normally on Kinver-Brockmoor.

With the X26 now being withdrawn from 7th August, will the surplus buses be redeployed elsewhere after that date? As not seen on new registrations/variations go in to VOSA.

Is that being used to replace an older bus? As with that plus the withdrawal of the X26 would mean you have excess buses

Hi Bususer 12.
Sorry it`s taken some time to respond but i could`nt give accurate information until the tender situation was known.Obviously we have gained an extra service as a result of this and we feel that in the short term were happy with the numbers of vehicles we have at the moment, though there could be some reductions in the older vehicles over time. Hi

I've noticed that you are changing the 267 and 657 routes and timetables from 26 October.  Wouldn't this be a good time to renumber the 657 into the 200 Dudley series (for instance 268) as nearly every other 6xx ex-minibus route in the Centro area has been renumbered over the past three or four years?
Title: Re: Hansons Buses Official - Questions & Answers

Hi Roy.
The routes are both Centro contracts and as such are assigned route numbers by them.Personally i think it`s a good idea but as all registraions have been done(also new timetable leaflets have been signed off) it`s too late to change this time. J

Good news, is the 318 carrying healthy loads with a full size brand new E200 being allocated to the route.

Has a decision been made of which bus with likely leave the fleet?

Trainbasher.
No news on fleet number yet though you may well be right.watch this space. ;)

Winston.
318 is a steady route with alot of mileage which is why we are allocating it this bus. We are assessing fleet age/dda compliance at the moment and will update you when a decision is made. J

There goes the prospect of removing an older bus from the fleet.....

How can a car driver not notice a bus coming towards it  ???

Do Hanson's have any more Euro 5 E200's on order via Mistral? Or does this article refer to the E200 just delivered to Hanson's?

Do you know what happened to the 231 at 12:00, it came at 12:10 with a driver I don't usually see on there.

The last Friday before Christmas, there is traffic chaos in lots of places and you are worried about a bus 10 minutes late? really?
Lots of NX buses in that area are currently about 30 min late

2602/1551? did have branding for the 004 at one stage (by way of a circular sticker) in the window nearest the door
1522/1523 had something similar to it for 226/x26

Hi Trident.
0060 is a floater at present but may well be allocated something more permanent when the fleet allocations are updated.
The fleet is pretty good for reliability. The worst vehicles were undoubtedly the E300`s that suffered unexplained electrical issues and the 2 58 reg E 200`s that were rattle boxes. J.

It gets on the following workings AFAIK on M-F nSch @nxwmbusfan1999 however I could be wrong with some of these workings but i know the first and last are correct as I occasionally get it on the 267 after work and I occasionally see it on the 251 when on my way into work occasionally:
0930 251 ex Wollaston Farm
1035 318 ex Stourbridge
1130 318 ex Bromsgrove Station
1235 318 ex Stourbridge
1330 318 ex Bromsgrove Station
1535 (i think) 318 ex Stourbridge
1630 318 ex Bromsgrove Town Centre (does not serve Bromsgrove Rail Station)
1800 267 ex Stourbridge

It gets on the following workings AFAIK on M-F nSch @nxwmbusfan1999 however I could be wrong with some of these workings but i know the first and last are correct as I occasionally get it on the 267 after work and I occasionally see it on the 251 when on my way into work occasionally:
0930 251 ex Wollaston Farm
1035 318 ex Stourbridge
1130 318 ex Bromsgrove Station
1235 318 ex Stourbridge
1330 318 ex Bromsgrove Station
1535 (i think) 318 ex Stourbridge
1630 318 ex Bromsgrove Town Centre (does not serve Bromsgrove Rail Station)
1800 267 ex Stourbridge

Why did you withdraw the X26 as it was a contender for the X96 (NXWM)?

Obviously it wasn't making enough money.

Now the 228 towards merry hill on the other hand............

That may be the case, but also it may be that the timings didn't help as it did often followed the X96 towards Dudley. It was a stupid timing system as it also followed the X96 back to Merry Hill or the X96 was a couple of minuted behind it.

But to make the timings more reasonable, they would have had to alter the 226 timetable as well, which probably wouldn't have been allowed as the 226 is also operated by Diamond and they operate a 15 minute frequency.

Hi and thanks for asking your questions.
1.Will refer you to answer on page 1 Question 9 on our pages. Still the same thoughts.
2. Fleet numbers, now bear with me here.
0`s are all mini darts,(Important for allocations as some routes are too tight for anything bigger) older buses feature regs ie 0389 and the newer plates use the year ie 0030.
Where there is more than 1 of that year we use 0520,0521 etc. Simple!
1`s are longer Darts and again fleet numbers feature the year/1-52 then the number we have in fleet
of that age ie 1520/6.
2`s are all 29 seat Enviro 200`s  though the 2640/1 have been used on the larger variations(yes i know its a15 plate) and 2151 should maybe have been 2150? Hey ho.
3`s were Enviro 300`s.
Thats it really.
New vehicles.
We have another bus away at painters being prepped.Reg details later, and the loan Orange bus is going back.
Hope this helps.J

Hansons have been awarded the following contracts starting Oct 2016.
288, 298/99, 14, 55, 24, 122 ,20/21.This requires 9 buses.
These will replace any contracts operated at the moment.

Hi, thanks for your updates.

One I was wondering about, why are your service cancellations for 208/231/267/657 effective 16th October but not registered to start by other operators until the 23rd October, around the usual date for contracts to expire/change.

Who will be running those services for the week in between?

It's interesting this round of tender changes for yourselves. It sees you go off services 231 (run for 5 years) and off 267/657 which have been operated considerably longer, possibly the biggest change in your operation I can think of.

Hi .
An admin cock up elsewhere has led to those dates mentioned being published incorrectly. All contracts finish on the correct date.
Contract changes can happen any time they are renewed.Thats why the tender process is followed.

Exactly, I assumed as much, thanks for clarifying.

Precisely, that's the system followed ever since 1986, socially necessary services are tendered out and awarded usually on a cost basis and services often pass between operators after this tendering process.

Centro usually tend to use October and April as the two main periods for tendered service changes.

Can I ask why the drivers of the 288 seem to be stopping anywhere to drop passengers off, last week the bus stopped outside our house blocking the road to let some one off, this morning was following the bus from Stourbridge through to Oldswinford, the bus totally missed the bus stop and dropped people off up opposite the shops.

Hi,

Can I ask your reasoning behind only running the 004 merry hill- Welsh house farm on most journies? Why not the extension to at least the green man on all journies? Agreed the routing of the 004 should be good but it seems you half heartedly want to compete with NX? Will you consider extending it past Welsh house farm in the future?

Many thanks

If the NWM website is correct, it looks like its been done so the 30 minute frequency in maintained @Trident 4194, together Hansons and Central Buses will operate a combined 30 minute frequency, not realy competing against them.

How's the 004 doing? Any increase in passenger numbers since extending back to harborne? From my observations the timetable is incredibly tight and often running late due to no layover in merry hill?
