Same here :) looks like it was on the 7
Its at the Crossways, junction of College Road/Hawthorn Road. Will have been on the 7 (It will turn left at the road behind the railings, the 28 continues down Short Heath Road in front of the bus)
That one is more than likely arson
Yeah I think your right john, shame as it had just been refurbished whichever one it is.
Not far from where the b7 alx lost its roof either

It looks distinctly more like an arson attack, with the fire started on the rear top deck. The engine compartment looks to be unaffected
There's a picture on the Birmingham Updates Facebook page, looks like it's 4502 on the 7

Also on Twitter from Perry Barr Fire Station https://twitter.com/ade6593/status/409336209358352385
Additionally, it is confirmed as being treated as Arson on the BBC Birmingham 'local live' feed.
Its also lucky that Perry Barr Fire Station is right over the road from this location (behind the photographer), or it might have been a whole lot worse.
4777 is also off the road, looks like it has a small engine fire, dumped at the back of the garage earlier this week
Would it be likely for 4502 to return to service? Or even if it might be repaired?

Very lucky indeed, did wonder that when I saw the photo, bet it caused some interesting chaos closing that junction (or did they just close Perry Common road?)

I'm no expert, but that's clearly Arson...
Sc*m.
Absolutely - in fact scum is putting it very mildly indeed.

Fingers cross that they've been caught on camera & get prosecuted/have to pay the repair bill
I only photographed that last week
http://wmbusphotos.com/NXWM/4475-4699/4502.html
looks a bit better there
I know its a shame, I bet they will have been on camera so shouldn't be too hard to get them, especially when they most likely live near to the stop
I always wonder what the driver does and if anyone watches where they go, or is it a case of tehm been long gone before the fire takes hold?

I'm not so sure, obvious extensive fire & smoke damage upstairs, depends i suppose if there is any damage downstairs.
If this was a PN or WN bus, this thread would be about 6 pages long by now ;D

As if people on the PE thread make a fuss over a bus fire, good god, we are used to them, very used to them.

Probably some drug pushing layabout chav on the dole so won't pay a penny. They probably do the same thing to another bus in a few weeks....or mug a granny, Burgle a school, in fact they are probably smoking weed in Dudley bus station about now!

We need to be tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime
4502 is dumped in a corner of the garage, we went over to have a better look at the fire damage. Quite severe, the rearmost 2 windows are where the fire had chance to spread before it was put out, completely gutted, plus it looks like the fire had broke through the roof as well

Carlyle are repairing 4502, the top deck seats are now at Miller Street.

Dare I say though that spectras and daf's are some of the most awful buses ever built with the exception of the sb120

It was 4299. Was on the 89 route when a passenger shouted to the driver that his bus was on fire. Fire engine was passing and it turned out to be an electrical fault towards the rear of the bus
@WB do u mean 4269 because 4299 at Walsall
Not sure. I was told 4299 which i did think was at walsall but wasnt sure if we had it on loan

It must have been very minor. Yesterday every WB B7/ALX was in service yesterday except 4225 and that was out Friday on the 45.
4299 has not been on loan aand is also in service
Not sure which number it was then but i know the vehicle was in the work bay inside the garage set to one side and the driver was taken into the managers office to find out what had happnened. Apparently the fire service had to rip the rear seat up and the smoke was very thick and smelt very bad so doubt it would be back in service so fast??
