Does anyone know of any reason as to why the 99 was branded and the 98 not?
I think it was to do with the fact that a lot of journeys on the 98 inter worked with the X64, including for example on Sundays. Not sure of the extent of inter working now.
The 99 uses a dedicated vehicle type just for that route and doesn't inter work with anything.

Still extensive, Mike. Near all late nights and peak workings/mornings. Don't think the daytimes do any more. I'll have to speak to my mate off that road to see if the daytime interwork.
Those E200's are already covered in dents and scrapes...

And the red has started to fade on some of them.
But with the route they do I'd expect a certain amount of damage. But for a vehicle only a year old... actually -- have you seen the state of some of them BC B7RLE's?

Some late evening journeys on the 98 are ran on 99 running boards

I agree! With the tight roads around Welsh House Farm area. I remember once, when the B6's were still in use, the 99 was stuck there for at least 5 - 10 minutes, due to a taxi blocking the road and another B6 adjacent.
Also, ahas anybody else notice that some of the 99 brandings are coming off? I think it's 804 or 808, where the front panel is now back to it's old form.
Wouldn't be 808 as it isn't branded full stop
805 is the Enviro without front bumper branding.

Yeah, I saw a BC B7 outside New Street Station a few days ago and was actually shocked by the state of it, faded red front and a dent (well, more like a small cavern) stretching the length of 2 panels... Can't recall the fleet number though.
804 and 807 have both lost their rear branding, in the case of 807 at least, it was following a rear end collision. It's a shame they don't reapply branding when panels or windows are replaced, they do seem to make more of an effort with the Hybrids than they do with these E200s, e.g. 5502 (rear window) and 5501.
Are there any changes proposed to either of these routes when the network review takes place?
Isn't the 99 going to be stopped from doing that stupid u-turn at Harborne Lane/Melchett Lane/QEHB learning hub? It only does it off-peak anyway.

X64 to Woodgate after February - maybe!! Rumour has it the 98 will be curtailed and reintroduction of the X62!
Are you a driver, per chance? Or have you just been re-reading some old posts?
And are you Blakey as in "I'll 'ave you Butler!" or is that your real name?!

Used to be a bus nut when I was a kid then lost interest - yes you got me I am a driver and a closet bus nut! Wish I'd come on the job years ago!!
The job years ago was fantastic.
...but saying that the reason it was fantastic was because the rules weren't enforced as harshly as they are now. A lot of drivers refuse to admit it but its true. The rules have always been there.

This site is excellent by the way - everyone's knowledge is fantastic nobody misses anything! Always see spotters on a Saturday in town - always try to acknowledge them when my bus get photographed but they never wave back.
What garage are you at and what rota are you on Blakey?

BC - Great Park rota! I float onto other routes quite a bit as well.
Ah, ok. I live on the 99 route near Harborne golf course so I'll keep an eye out for someone who looks like Blakey from 'On The Buses'!

Lol - no similarity plus I'm dead friendly - 99 routes great - drivers moan about it but I'm happy to do it all day long - which I have been these last few days!
I guess you would've liked the old 21. Similar in certain ways.

They work at every 10 minutes from Birmingham City Centre to Q. E. Hospital, and the 98 is every 20minutes to Rubery Great Park and the 99 is every 20 minutes to Halesowen.

Ugh. Scrolling destinations remind me too much of Stagecoach in Devon! I much preferred static-switching.

900 has a new destination in the 'Super-X' format (if anyone has the HELEN software). Prefer the old one myself. The could have just increased the size of the route number if thats what they were trying to achieve
807 was the only one I saw.
Route number is massive now I saw earlier
Limited Stop the letters are weirdly formatted ive noticed
Saw 808 with this on the 99 this afternoon.
Very... Stagecoachish?

Anybody got a photo of these new displays yet? Living in Leeds now so won't be able to see it myself :/
