Have any of the above Mercs actually made it in to the training fleet yet?
All seems to have gone very quiet.....
I thought Tony had said that 1688 was being converted into a classroom and that 1690 was dead

I seem to remember Tony reported that one or two of 1690-1692 had being undergoing conversion work, but then all has gone quiet with no paintshop reports.
I'm sure I've seen a picture that show's some of the batch dumped at the back of Park Lane still untouched?
I could find out whats been happening with this clump if you like Winston

Three have turned out to be nails and look likely to go into reserve without being used, two are going to be used for training and the sixth as the mobile classroom

3 out of 6 can be used, thats pretty poor and these are the younger more modern Mercs.
I still say the older Mercs are the better ones.

If the mark II Mercs aren't in good enough condition to go in the training fleet, it might explain why the refurb programme has been halted
Could they not just be reinstated to replace older Mercs since theyre not total heaps?

They are total heaps, if they weren't they would be in the training fleet!
From what I,ve heard from around the garage 0405n are suffering serious corrosion issues , seems about wright a lot mercedes Benz products suffered from cost cutting exercises during that era corrosion protection prime example , just look out for vans and cars of that era serious rust, shocking stuff from a premium product manufacturer. At least they,ve learnt from the error of there ways . I do wish nx had bought the citaros instead of scanias though the most that I see in the city from arriva do look quality.
The rust has been visible on the exterior panels for years. Back in 1998 I saw one of them in Aston en route to Evobus in Barnsley for finishing - you could see rust forming already on the framework.

For some daft reason, Mercedes chose to use Mild Steel.....

It's ironic you saw one going to Barnsley - where some will be going very soon.
I saw a lot of mercs get refurbed at west brom completely reskinned except the roof , I don't think any zinc primer was used , reason I say that a lot of the refurbed mercs have some serious rust around the mouldings that cover the joins . I have extensive background in the motor trade some of quality of the work I,ve seen over the years just appalling .

That was mentioned a long while back on the forum mate
Saw a Cov NXWM livery on a trailer on the M1 in Sheffield going North, must be a withdrawal, had no7 on the front. Only noticed as the M1 was blocked

It might be either 1555 or 1565 because there are only two fleets I could find as withdrawn in NXC livery on the Fleetlist

Quote from Pensnett thread:
1609 being towed down Wolverhampton road this afternoon on way to depot in the sky!If it was an NXC liveried Merc it would have been 1555 which was also stored at Pensnett & on the for sale list to PVS, 1565 wasn't.

Ah, Thanks!
UPD: A bit late, checked through fleet list, it was 1555 and there is a small typo as well on the home page which is listed as 1540/2
/5/7 instead of 55/7
