Will everything else in the reserve fleet not at Pensnett be stored in Lea Hall I assume?

Ex-Coventry 1555 seems to be a new addition, this carries NXC livery. Is damaged 1562 and are stored trainers 9697 (T697 FJW) and 9955 [ex-2955] still at Miller St?

Paulb,

4 ex WN Excels are now stored at PE i.e. 684, 687, 708 & 711

Along with 1346, 1414, 1471, 1472, 1503, 1504, 1644, 1663 & 1664 that you have already mentioned.

I can only assume, if not at Miller St or Pensnett they will more than likely be stored at Lea Hall as the Car Park is no longer used

Re the buses you have down as stored at Lea Hall, have you seen these yourself? As I haven't seen any reports of the contents of LH for a while, probably since it was last emptied when a sale was previously agreed

Thanks for the further updates. Nah I've haven't seen the contents of Lea Hall - its more based on a process of elimination using updates on here generally for Pensnett & more recently re. MS from Tony! A few of those marked LH or '??' might have been sold but I go by Tony's monthly updates regards sales/withdrawals and transfers. It would be nice to get something a bit more official, but I suppose visits to Lea Hall are few & far between.

Yes, only the select few can probably see the contents of LH. I would have thought it's fairly safe to assume that most of the B6LE, B10L & Mercs location unknown are in LH. NXWM don't seem to be in any great hurry to dispose of B10L's for scrap, possibly because of their higher book value due to refurb etc

I was going to post something similar - some of those B6 & B10L's have been stored for a very long time indeed. In days of old (thinking of Fleetlines and Metrobuses) large scale withdrawals of ex-West Midlands types could see these flood the second-hand bus market, granted quite a few Mk1 Metro's went straight to scrap. Has there been a policy by NX of selling withdrawn vehicles to scrap regardless of age or condition, thereby preventing potential competitors acting against or in direction competition with NX companies?

Yes 9697 & 9955 are there, I missed 1611 off the original list as well. The other' non~ active bus there is 1690

Paulb,

I think largely they will stay in reserve stored until fully depreciated then more than likely scrapped. I don't think NX have any issues in selling on used vehicles, in fact it wasn't so long ago that they had a large batch of used vehicles advertised for sale via Volant PSV. I think the problem is more what NX have available for sale i.e. Volvo B6LE's aren't popular, nor are Excels, B10L's weren't sold in any great number to other operators and the Merc 0405N's are pretty unique in the UK other than the odd one's or two's with the likes of Whittle's etc. The other problem is the forthcoming requirement that all single deckers will need to be DDA compliant by 1st Jan 2015 which includes built-in wheelchair ramps push various other things. Any second-hand purchases available from used NX stock will either have a max service life of 18 months or need money spending on them to upgrade it to DDA. With high numbers of ex London Darts & Double deckers around that are much newer I think that pretty much seals the fate of the above

Two solos escaped last month, so there is no 'everything for scrap' rule like First

It's only the 5 x Solo's that have been sold on further used in a good while i.e. the 3 to Banga & the two last month.

Dundee sold on the ex Airbus/NX Airport Olympian / Royale + the 2 x Olympian / NC Palatine II originally ex CCS and B10B 1352 went to JP Coaches, their B10L's go for scrap as well, but many of those have never seen a full new coat of paint or an internal refurb

I hope some B10Ls and Mercs escape the scrapman too, I know realistically most will be cannibalized, especially as the majority are not DDA, but even just a handful being saved would be nice for the nostalgic like me :)

Surprised Banga didn't take advantage of any further Solos to modernise the rest of their fleet!

I think one B10L that will survive is 7122 P122KSL which I understand is being donated to the Dundee bus museum as it was the first new bus delivered under NX ownership

Banga bought another from NX after the first. They also have a Y-reg Solo, but I haven't seen it for months. Id it VOR?

Nice to know a B10L will survive and make it into presevation-a worthy candidate both for the significance mentioned above which I didn't know of and also because B10L liberators are rare buses representing some of the UK's first low floor buses-shame L3LOW wasnt preserved tho...

And the other 4 to the same operator as the last two. Banga has 4 not 3, and the Y reg one was on the 530 on Saturday

Glad to hear that, 7122 Certainly seems like a worthy candidate and would at least be looked after at a bus museum. It's also nice to hear of NX donating a bus to a worthy cause too.

I believe 7114 was rather rotten inside when it was transferred down to WM so was just sent to scrap...

Yes, I think that is spot on, as it was originally destined to join TWM training fleet until inspected

I would think one will be preserved along with 4001 as being some of the first low floor buses with TWM & launching the new TWM brand. Obviously the opportunity for some lucky person to preserve 501 has been missed....

Could always preserve 502 :) i believe 4001 is in the process of being repaired so ive been told, didnt we discuss 1539 being a preservation prospect due to its original looking condition or have a few bits been removed

As with all preservation, any vehicle will only be saved if one of us has the time, money, space and expertise.
NX could donate any unwanted vehicle, but if no one is interested (museums included) then I believe all will go for scrap.

I think 551 P551EON was the first low floor for TWM originally delivered with a N plate and in blue with red stripe livery.
