Not uncommon, but not main allocation. Main allocation is Mercs and the odd b6

Depends on how much it would cost to repair it to get it back in service. Of the double-decks in the fleet, the Spectras must be at the most risk of being withdrawn, so why waste thousands of pounds repairing a bus that could be withdrawn in a couple of months?

Best buses in the fleet the Spectra's, 4001 isn't the greatest but no doubting its the most heard of/poular/famous and definitely definitely should be preserved once withdrawn
Having only rode on 2 spectras perhapes im not qualified to comment but other than wa b7s and wa geminis they are the most comfortable buses in nxwm fleet.

There are more than one on the 59 usually at least 3-6 on there but the other week think it was a saturday there were about 7-10 spectras with only a couple of tridents

There was also a B7RLE on the 9 this morning, 2090 I think. But I can't imagine PE are short of deckers for the 9 and 141 though, there are more than enough - they seem to be cropping up on a variety of other routes like the 222, X96, 120 etc.

When i popped by the depot last week, there were at least 6 Enviros parked up during the day, so can't say that they are short of them.
They do seem to turn up on anything these days, the 276 also is seeing Enviros!
Wonder if PE are still on the cards to get some extra deckers at some stage?

Good to see if those extra deckers are being used. Living on the 276 route, I know it gets very busy esp between Dudley and Merry Hill and often towards Lye/Pedmore and does deserve deckers especially on peaks.

3601 on the 45 (although there were mercs/b6le's and alx 200 on the service today)
I've noticed how people are commenting about the regular breakdown's of Wolverhampton and Pensnett mercs compared to West Brom's mercs of which rarely seem to break down and when people comment it mostly seems to be the slightly newer (T and V) reg ones.
Maybe just West Brom are getting lucky? Or they've got the best engineering team down there. Either way, those Mercs are still fairly solid. Well, apart from one or two where the doors keep sticking open/closed... ::)

i think its because WB know how to treat mercs properly having had them for some 10/15 years now. WN recently had them and PE about 6 or 7 years ago. saying that....
1601 broke down monday afternoon in the bus station right on the first crossing. took 10 of us (including myself) to push it out of the way.......... not easy considering its a 8 ton or so vehicle plus engineer ::)
on the dart issue, there seems to be one dart every day on the 40 but i think its one of the last running boards out of garage in the morning, and gets whatever is left in the garage, which is why you sometimes get mercs on the 5 as well, especially running board 5/13

I was thinking when was one going to show up on the 82. On some parts of that journey the citaro's reach 60pmh so not the ideal route for hybrids to be used on as their effective on stop/start services not long distance services like the 82.
Quick question does anyone know what the average mileage that one of the mercs has covered especially a bus like 1534 that would have been doing long shifts on the 404/A daily.

I'm not sure it would have as it was at 18:30 and I'm sure it had people on already from where it had been before , but you could have been right madabouttransport. i just think WB could struggle to meet the emission ruling all the time especially if a high number of alx400 or gemini's are off the road as they have no single deckers to cover as their all too old unless the odd enviro200 covers when they are put into service.

They don't but BC do (or did until very recently) a couple of morning peak boards on the 9 which then take up duties on the 9S, or 829 as it is now, to St Paul's School. Not sure where these start from, but it's at least Quinton Church, towards City.
But anyway, I too suspect it's a B7RLE he was referring to.

One used to leave Quinton Church at around 7.40ish to City and then became a 9S, but not seen it in ages which would corroborate Shaun saying they no longer run on the 9 into town.

Unidentified B7 on the 9 in the peak this morning!
A B7 on Pensnett's 9? Now that is unusual, as PE don't have any B7's...what was going on there? Was it Gemini or ALX?
I assume he meant B7RLE.
Oops. I need more sleep.
Shame, I got all excited then... a B7RLE is not unheard of in the morning. The 9 is my local bus and I'd love to see a bit more variety on there!

It could have been an Trident
They don't have any Tridents either do they? Only deckers are the Enviros
Sorry everyone, it was a B7RLE i was referring to!

Hmmm, that is interesting. I was on 5503, sat on the wrong side to see the fleet number, but it was most definitely an unbranded E200 and it was most definitely on the 22 to Kitwell. I was surprised as it was hot on the heels of a 99 branded one, as it's unusual to see two 99s in a row. Strangely, there was another unbranded E200 behind these two heading down War Lane in Harborne 'Not in Service' - such buses are usually on their way to take up duties on the 22/23 so I'd assumed that maybe 809 and 810 were / were to be on unusual workings today. But if these 2 are on the X64 and 99 respectively then maybe the 2 I saw are other 'WB' ones.

815 is on the 24 (BC) this evening. Anyone know why, it would appear, 5 WB E200s have been on BC routes today? Is it part of some wider conspiracy to ensure WB never gets new buses? Send them to BC for a few days before they are then transferred to WB as second hand cast offs?
There was a president on the 37
816 was on the 14 this afternoon, and another Enviro 200 (couldn't see which) was on the 90.
650 on the 10A (not sure this is unusual only normally seem to see eclipses on there though)
4113 on the 40 (WB)
818 was on the 60 this afternooon. I saw it through a mud spattered window on 4202 on the Coventry Road at about 3.30.p.m.
Probably part of a temporary loan arrangement. AG appear to be a couple of buses short, as they currently have BC's 638 on loan, as well as WN's 2153, and a couple of BC's Urban 2s were spotted on AG routes the last couple of days. As AG don't operate Enviro200s, it makes sense to send a couple waiting to go to WB to BC, who can then loan buses that AG drivers are familiar with. Just a thought...

Also, 1553 (slightly unsure on exact number) on WN2, probably covering for a broken down B7RLE.

That was 4516. Not too unusual to have a decker on the peak workings
Had a ride on 819 today on the 45, not a bad bus the only thing letting it down was that it had a few rattles but overall impressive. Wonder if the enviro 200 will stay on the 45 or move to the 47/A when all out in service especially if the 45 is rumored to be moving back to Walsall Garage.

823 on the X96, have a feeling that unless one of the other Enviros are out of action this bus is going to appear on practically any other PE route. My guess is it'll turn up on the 9 soon as its emission zone friendly.
Possibly. Odds on it being a 222 branded one?
4505 out on WB40 today. Although it has to be said that this one is almost usual with the amount of times it happens.

I have just read a centro document online cant post the link or don't know how to via iPad it says that all buses that run at more than a half hourly frequency must be euro3 min and all other services must be euro 2 and it states that date as euro 2 is vehicles from oct 1996 so on a 140 or 141 service say a merc with pull out ramp could be used. It states that buses must have pull out ramps ie in the platform. Operators failing this will result in periodic fines and details but forward to traffic commissioner. If you search Birmingham euro 3 emissions on google its a PDF about 3 from top
Well the B10's haven't got pull out ramps, so that would be an area they could be pulled up on though to be honest the system seems very complicated with various loopholes and clauses so I doubt that any fines will probably be ever issued!

I take back what I said-sorry I thought the 935 was more frequent than that. Hands up-I didnt check-sorry! Tho i think the whole system is flawed

Sorry I misread it a portable ramp is good enough so any bus currently operated by nxwm could enter the city on a selection of routes

Nether do early mercs, but they're often used on 83 and 89 routes so probably not
What other requirements are there for vehicles?
Operators must ensure that:
from 22nd July 2012
daytime running lights are used at all times
route and destination displays are correctly set, and comply with relevant legal standards
vehicles are well presented, clean internally and externally
vehicles are in an appropriate livery clearly identifying the operator (or route brand) and not in a livery belonging to a previous operator or bear any previous operator's branding or other information
from 22nd July 2013
all vehicles must be fitted with equipment to provide locational data to Centro's Real Time Information System – this equipment must be maintained in working order and correctly configured at the start of each journey made by the vehicle
Vehicles must not be left unattended at a bus stop at any time. Engines must be switched off at a bus stop or bus stand where the vehicle's waiting time exceeds 2 minutes, unless there is an operational requirement for the vehicle to remain switched on.
That's a cut out of the document online, how are NX able to use old branding and fleet names as it says they can't?
