I've created a Wikipedia page on service 97, mainly to document the background and history of the route. Feel free to add to or correct.

Mayby I have been naive about the use of Wikipedia, although I probably didn't help by not initially uploading the History section, but the Wiki mods have put the article up for potential deletion. If you think there is merit in the article do record your support by editing the bold link in the red bar paragraph at the top.

I was inspired to write the 97 page after contributing to similar articles with a Midland Red (Solihull area) element to their history on the Warwick Road and Stratford Road bus corridor pages.

My thoughts:
- Run 2 & 3 via Moseley
- 3 to terminate at Shirley Green
- Retain 31A and divert to current 3 route between Acocks Green and Shirley then to Solihull via Solihull Rd and Woodlea Dr
- Curtail 5 at The Baldwin
- Divert 76 via Kedleston Rd and Newborough Rd
- Run three 6's an hour as 6A via Monkspath and Widney Manor
(backfill service on Marshall Lake Rd through co-ordination of 76 timetable)

Better get my question in while I can then (great thread btw).

My query is about the co-ordination of services 27 & 76 between Kings Heath and Hollybank Rd/Chinn Brook Rd.
Both services have a 20 min daytime frequency, however I appreciate that without altering turn-around times it is not possible to achieve a 10 min headway in both directions based on current timetables.
Non-the-less I think the current 1'/19' interval to KH (ie the services run on top of each other) and 13'/'7 from KH could be improved upon.
If the whole (daytime) 27 timetable was brought forward 6 minutes, the 7'/13' interval from KH would be maintained (but now with the DD [76] service leading after the 13'), whilst a slightly better 15'/5' interval to KH would be achieved.

Thanks in advance.

These changes have now been confirmed by Centro.

Compared to the draft documents linked to in the opening post, the S4 will not continue beyond Cheswick Green to Blythe Valley, Hockley Heath & Dorridge (I guess the current S9 is therefore retained), and all S3 journeys will continue beyond Dorridge to Hockley Heath.

So it's confirmed, Birmingham has it's first 7 day a week night bus service in many a year!

I just worry that the variety of terminus points will really confuse people.

Agreed. I'm surprised the (97)'A' suffix isn't being retained for the Airport variant.

I have recently written a Wiki article on the history of the Stratford Road bus corridor but am unsure of a few dates.

Does anyone know when service 4 started running via The Baldwin and through to Solihull?

Was Gospel Lane loop service 32 withdrawn immediately post de-regulation and was it replaced straight away by service 41?
When did new service 32 commence between (Yardley Swan,) Acocks Green and Gospel Oak and when was this extended (daytimes) to Shirley?

When did Blythe Valley sevice 166 commence?
