4577 on Broad St. It didn't have the engine door open, yet as I was on the 24 on the opposite side of the road...

From what I saw there was:
  - No Driver in the Cab / Passengers on board
  - FlipDot display had been frozen, with 'Not in Service' displayed (Although "incomplete" - so really it read out 'Not in Serv")
  - Emergency Lights flashing

-It looked as if it was pulling out when the engine gave out? Not too sure about that!  ???

Please don't post suppositions! 4577 completed all its mileage today and is still out on the 126. I don't know what was happening when you saw it, but it wasn't broken down, and the engine had not 'gave out'

Older diesel cars have it as well, not sure about new ones? It's a Diesel engine feature.

ALL Diesel engines have it. It's to wait for the Glow-Plugs to pre-heat the cylinders and the block surrounding the cylinders.

And @Matt , All [diesel] buses do it but on some it is "Automatic" - As in, it wont let you start the engine until it's completed its own checks.

Most modern Diesel engines won't let the operator start the vehicle before it's heated anyway, even though most of the "Pre-Heat" time is in 1-3 seconds.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

4552 taken out of service with a fault at Wolverhampton Bus Station this afternoon.  It should have operated the 1235 256 to Stourbridge.

Maybe thats why 4012 is now on the 256?

4012 must have replaced something else.  1677 was in the 1450 257 from Dudley and 1720 255 from Wolverhampton - the same running board that 4552 was on earlier.
