Some simple maths tells me:

21 brand new hybrid buses due in Spring 2013 for the 1 service.

21 Optare Spectras at Wolverhampton garage.

It doesn't take a genius to work out the rest.  ;)

Nope, same route and timetable.

I've seen Hybrids being used on the 24 on a Sunday before, and it is a Sunday service today  ;)

You mean the 650 operated by VIP Travel (Birmingham Markets - Kings Heath)? I think their vehicles are new enough to be okay.

The 669 runs from Kings Heath to Shirley. That'll soon be replaced by a new 69 service operated by Johnsons, replacing the 649 and 669.

They have a number of vehicles which would be suitable, but not enough for all their city centre services it would seem.

With Rotala rebranding Central Connect and merging it with the rest of the 'Diamond' operation, I suppose it may be possible for them to transfer vehicles around, or even transfer in vehicles from other operations around the country.

National Express West Midlands / Swift Card

Has anyone used one of these Signature smartcards yet?
http://networkwestmidlands.com/Signaturecard/signaturecard.aspx

I haven't myself yet, as I don't use those routes, but having used an Oyster card myself while travelling in London, I think they're a great idea and would work very well up here too.

At the moment I only use NXWM buses myself, as I buy a monthly Regional Faresaver by direct debit, and would have to pay extra cash to use other operators services.

But if the Smartcard could be set up in such a way, as Tony has suggested before, so you can still buy a monthly-pass, for unlimited travel on NXWM buses, but still be used to purchase tickets (at a discounted price) on other operators services also, then that might encourage me to make use of other services as well.

What are other people's thoughts and ideas?

Notably also, since BC received their B6LEs for the 636 route, AG will also become the only garage in the whole operation with a fleet of buses that all have LED destination displays.

And yet still some of the drivers can't be bothered to press the button to show the correct destination on the display!  ::)

No they aren't.  4518-22 and 4529/30 are all still here :) Dot Matrix displays on them.

OK, so I meant LED/dot matrix displays then!  :P As opposed to roller blinds!

Apparently the 238 used to interchange with the 297 at Merry Hill. I don't think this is possible now, as the 297 doesn't terminate there now.

It's great, when you have a collection of 'enthusiasts', like ourselves, who have somewhere to congregate and share ideas and discuss matters sensibly.

If you could somehow keep some of the nutters from the NXWM Facebook page away, then it would stay great.  ;D
