National Express West Midlands / Mystery bus
June 19, 2013, 07:56:38 AM
Caught two glimpses of a bus this morning, and I'm intrigued as to what bus / company it was. It was orange, didn't appear to have any logos on it and looked suspiciously like an Excel, saw it going round Lancaster Circus towards Snow Hill, then again going round Old Square and down Priory Queensway. Both times it was just a fleeting glimpse and was just too far away / at the wrong angle to see a number on the front

Similar to the "most unreliable services" thread, just somewhere to vent at the poorly planned road junctions that exist around the region.

I'll start with Perry Barr, especially the Wellington Road roundabout coming from town. It's coming to the point sometimes that it genuinely is quicker even for people who have trouble walking to get the 934/5/6/997 to Welhead Lane and walk back to the One Stop / Train station / 11 stops

In case anyone on here is interested, Vintage trains are doing a railtour today to Carlise and back, and the return portion will be steam hauled (double headed I belive by Earl of Mount Edgcombe and Duchess of Sutherland) through Wolverhampton, Perry Barr and Birmingham New Street en route to Tyseley. This will only be the second time a steam train has come through New Street since the 60's (first was last year)

Times can be found here -->clicky<-- but basically Wolves at 21:50, Perry Barr 22:07 and New Street 22:24-22:28

319 on the 651 heading up the Old Walsall Road about half 6 this evening, driving on the right hand side of the road and appeared to be racing a white van for a bit, then pulled in front and crept slowly up the rest of the hill in the middle of the road

Going to report it but figured id share it on here as well, I was in the car right behind the two and although found it a bit worrying also found it quite funny seeing a solo do that

Travel DeCourcey / Cov Outer Circle
March 07, 2013, 11:08:08 PM
I've seen mention in passing somewhere on here about an Outer circle in Coventry. Is this an actual plan? I imagine it would involve the 701/801/etc...

National Express West Midlands / Silly ideas

Things that come up in your head and you think "oh dear god I hope they dont do that"

For example:
North Birmingham Review
I (and possibly a few more / a lot more / no one else at all) suggested a) a better service for Rocky Lane, b) a link from Perry Barr to West Brom.
I get a horrible feeling we might see something like a "946" service, City centre - Perry Barr - Rocky Lane - Hamstead - Sandwell Hospital - West Brom....... and if we do I apologise, it sure as hell isn't what I meant

National Express West Midlands / Road markings
February 09, 2013, 10:59:07 AM
sure I've noticed this before, in fact I'm sure someone would have brought this up on here before, but I've only just put two and two together. On the Walsall rd coming towards Stone Cross, there's some road markings of a bus with the number 404 inside... Slightly redundant now? Would there be any other such route-specific road markings anywhere?
