4689 glided past today as did 4424 which also used to roar around. 4421 also used to be noisy.

Probably the 16(A) is the most interesting.
The 21(S) timetable is elusive: the link is to the 20(A/E) timetable, and none of the intuitive URL's seem to work.

Yeah I shall commend the service 16/16A changes, they no longer run short to Stoke Aldermoor but continue to Binley (Warks Shopping Park), so a more-or-less doubled daytime service between those points, however the Binley to University Hospital bit is reduced to half-hourly (one 16 and one 16A per hour), I will honestly say a good relevant balanced service pattern overall.
Journeys towards Binley/Hospital will stop at Hales Street instead of inside Pool Meadow bus station to save a few moments on the journey.  In theory this means service 21 towards Wood End (which is also route amended) is moving inside Pool Meadow??

There's a couple of Coventry changes on VOSA today to commence 31st August:

- 7 timetable
- 16/16A route and timetable
- 20/20A/20E timetable
- 21/21S route
- 23/23C route
- 27A route and timetable
- 58/23S/58A timetable
- 900/900A timetable

About time they sorted it out! 4421 has been noisy for years! I think longer than the rest of them, I don't actually ever remember 4421 being quiet! As well as 4695 and 4687!

From the new timetable on the Network West Midlands website, it seems that the stops are to stay the same:

When I was still in Coventry 5 years ago 4421 was pretty quiet, while 4415 (or 4416?) was the most noisy one that I could hear its sound 3 blocks away from the road!

I don't ever remember 4415 or 4416 being noisy. Only 4422 recently, (but is fixed already!), 4424 and 4421. 4416 does hoover but very quietly.  :-\

4687 also now gliding round quietly. Seems they are sorting out the cooling fan issue, although 4421, 4424, 4694 and 4695 remain to be sorted. Hopefully they will be done soon.

I went on 1550 this afternoon on the 16. My sympathies are with the driver having to do a shift on it - it clonked when the accelerator was pressed, it clonked when it was released, it clonked when changing up and it clonked when changing down. It was one of the most uncomfortable bus rides I've had for a long time. And it's livery is sky blue, white and rust brown.

Its been about a year since I was on 1550 but its definitely one of the shakier examples. Most Mercs are for me a pleasure to travel on, comfortable seats, swift & smooth acceleration and well ventilated in the hot weather.

normally i would jump to the mercs defence here but i have to agree that 1550 is a bit boring and not one id miss. This is why i leapt to the defence of 1655 being withdrawn, that had much more go juice

Stevo

I like Mercs too - can be smooth, quiet and powerful, but they're no longer at their best.
