Do the new machines accept a contactless debit card?

Today WL 6733 on the 51 (Not a typo!) was stopped near Perry Avenue B'ham bound. Empty and on hazzards with a male sitting on grass with facial injuries. No idea how they were sustained.

Yes a good line up, but for an old codger like me I was a little disapointd that there were no vehicles in the former municipal liveries, apart from the BCT vehicles, of course, and Walsall 116. Also nothing to represent Midland Red...

Aston Manor have mentioned on their Facebook that they wont be sending a vehicle as they will have their own event on.

Should be a good event this and hoping it's well attended! Credit to all involved with organising it! There's also the On the Buses event at SVR so a busy weekend for enthusiasts! Plus Showbus the week after!

Being a four wheeled vehicle running on jointed track does not improve comfort either.

Never pay XC and travel direct to Manchester from Birmingham unless you find a decent Advance, which they deliberately make very expensive now. Even if you do the train will be rammed, hot and uncomfortable.

Travel on the Liverpool service to Crewe (always loads of decent cheap advances on that) and then get an open return from Crewe to Manchester on any permitted. Between Virgin, Arriva and Northern, you will soon be in Manchester for much less money, in greater comfort and only a little more time.

How about LM to Stoke and then any permitted to Manchester?

The other day I was on a City bound X51. When we stopped at Perry Avenue the driver used the PA to announce that the next stop would be Aston University and then waited a few seconds to see if anyone wanted to get off. Well done that man!
But could not the automatic system make a similar announcement before the stop at Perry Avenue, and not until the bus has left the stop as at present? A bit late then...
If the announcement was made at Walsall those joining the bus along the route would not hear it.
