It is pretty disgusting, particularly as the advertising on many of the twin-car XC 170's is clearly designed to encourage you to buy from them!! as they say-"we don't charge a booking fee"-what a con! >:( I would recommend everyone to book via London midland wherever poss,
I had nothing but aggro with a virgin advance site, trying to get some info on a trip to glasgow
thanks to LM I not only found a booking,I found TWO cheap fares (with a railcard) for £14.85 each way.The saving on this booking alone  was worth more than the cost of the railcard!!

:'(As you say-completely off topic)-I know but this is one 'ghost' you might like,I know I did-
I heard a story about an old coaching house somewhere in gloucestershire in the late 18th century. The resident young girl had become infatuated with a local ruffian/traveller.When her parents found out they forbid her to leave the house after 7pm.But the aquaintance continued to flourish, at least in writing, when he would leave a love note on her doorstep every night which she would retrieve at midnight. that is,until her parents became aware of this and removed the notes each night without telling her.It was said she died of a broken heart and her ghost is often seen on the doorstep on a dark stormy night  searching for the letters that never came... :'(

Does anyone know if any central birmingham buses are to be named at any time in the future? It would be a credit to the company if they were to honour its long serving emloyees-perhaps a minimum of 40 years? I think this practise may be common in other towns, Brighton is one example.

Jnl 1984- just a thought- I too would like to see the ghost at WB, trouble is it would have to be in the dark. I suspect the only 'Ghost' we would see would be the bloke from Health and safety telling us to sod off. :) :) :) The last time I spoke to a WB driver he speculated that funding may be made available for an upgrade.  "an upgrade to what? I said-an andersen shelter? :) might not be such a bad idea, if the garage suffered a direct hit from an enemy bomb the damage could amount to at least 50 quid :)

On our touring holiday in Delhi we attempted to board a local bus which was already full. although there were another 3 people on the roof and another 6 on the back end we thought there must be room for another 2. The driver,(in his best English) said " you can't get on-I'm
RAM Jammfhul". to which my mrs Replied (in her best Indian) "We don't realy need to know your Name- we just want to get on the bus.

:) :)A few years ago I took an old optare down to Newport on an evening charter. during the lay-over I managed to flatten the battery (As you do)-so I collared the nearest welsh driver
and asked him if he had any Jump Leads. He said "sure" then handed me a list of RED LIGHT
phone numbers in Cardiff...

Two NX drivers were captured by a group of cannibals.the chief questioned the first driver where he was from.the driver replied "Dundee". The chief put him down for Scotch broth.
when he asked the other driver where he was from he replied "perry Barr" -Perry barr?? said the chief, "would you know if our kid is still working the 28??

Looking at some of the posts lately I think the forum needs to lighten up a bit! does anyone have any amusing BUS/transport related memories/anecdotes they can share on the forum?
comments could be a bit risque but not vulgar and National but not racialy offensive.
I would be happy to contribute my experiences ,perhaps saturday nights (after 10pm)
regards. windy :)
