WMSNT are certainly becoming a sizeable force in the Centro area

I see Arriva Midlands have lost the 208, 282, 288, 298 & 299

Diamond seem to have lost a few and gained a few

The operator seems to have dropped off the 240 as well - this is also WMSNT

They are sadly

Yes, the arriva effect has come and gone-initially everyone thought they would take the wm market by storm but they have epically failed to do that

Diamond have picked up a couple of new ones and lost a few as you have said trident 4609. I imagine though that they will be making more money on the ones they have picked up now though than the ones they have lost. To be fair, I look at that tendered services list and think many services there could easily be made commerical-the 19 is a case in point

The 19 would never be commercial. It is the second most expensive tender costing over £1/3m for the three years. This is a point I have made before that someone just looking on from outside cannot tell how much a route costs/makes. This is not a knock at you Peter, just without knowing costs and income it is impossible to tell if a route is good or bad. Doing it on costs per year it does drop down the list a place to third behind the 71 & 54

It really irritates me how what is essentially a charity is allowed to bid competitively for contracts which should go to commercial organisations it is totally unfair competition and should be stopped

I take your point, but at the end of the day we are talking about Ratepayers money being spent here, so the cheaper the better, and I haven't heard any complaints about WSMNT not running their existing Tenders competantly.

That must be because it has 3 buses on the route and is a long route as well... fair enough Tony I understand it is hard to predict costings for a route but I thought that it would have stacked up commercially more than it does as it seems quite busy with plenty of people buying tickets on the service. But over £100, 000 for the route a year for a 312 day operation so thats over 320 per day so over 100 per bus. Thats more than diamonds 50/16 are taking at the moment!!!!

I agree D10 yes in todays climate good value tenders are important it just irritates me how WMSNT is a charity yet now seems to be a full commercial organisation that competes against the private sector but can still use its charitable status to gain better deals on things and potentially even better tax rates giving it a far better advantage over other companies.

Good to see a little more variety in the mix i.e Diamond on the 282.

Tony,

Is it Hanson's that have won the 240 as well?

They'll have to shoehorn the extra buses they'll need in to their Lye depot

Sh4318

Which buses do WMSNT use on their 297 service?
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

Most used routes in bold

Arriva haven't lost 208 - this is the daytime contract which Hansons have retained.
