Finally caught one (819) on the 46, and it was fun seeing what it can do along the Newton road. But while I was on it I was thinking, with it being a fairly well used route why have they suddenly decided to put smaller buses on it? I wouldn't say it was a particularly tight cornered route or used narrow roads at all, in fact I would say the 40/42/43 more worthy of midi buses given some of the roads they have to navigate

Probably due to the other side of the route not being very busy (Londonderry to West Bromwich)

The Londonerry to West Bromwich section of the route is always dead your lucky if you see 5 passengers get on at West Bromwich can't see this part of the route lasting and in time I wouldn't be surprised to see the 46 return to West Bromwich to Great Barr only.

I can't see that happening. The extension was put in place to cover parts of the withdrawn 444

I dont know much about the Londonerry area but the 444 always seemed quite popular the alx200 darts were always quite busy when leaving West Bromwich does the 48 or 53 cover a similar area to the 46 to Londonerry may be impacting on the patronage of the 46 but I suppose if NXWM aren't making money on a specific service they will either amend the route or withdraw it.

the 129 and 48 go exactly the same way to queens road.

the only reason the 46 was extended down there was to allow a direct link to Sandwell Hospital, but passengers probably don't realise that, and still get off at the bus station and get another bus there.
an empty bus is a happy driver.

811 was out on Sat on 46. In fact, the whole batch (811-822) were out working on routes 45 & 46.

Has 827 been in a crash ?

I noticed yesterday that there was a small dent on the offside and looks like a new panel has been put on the rear nearside under the light surround which also looked like it was cracked.

Just for a little bit of fun, and to just repeat what's happening anyway why not lets record where 823 gets too each day!
06/03/13- 297

With previous appearances on 243/244, 222, X96, 297, 241/140 any more?

The 20.25 289 departure from wb this evening was an unidentified E200, so may have been 823.rgds John

If it was unbranded, must've been one of the WB Enviros as 823 was on the 297 today, see above

the trainbasher

Could it eventually end up on the 9 do we think

Doesnt only PE operate the 289 in the evening? Possibly WB still operating at that time too though with PE doing the last couple a little later on?

Ash

828 was on the 289 last night not sure if it was on the 53/289 all day though or was put on after being on the 222.

ade

Its also been on the schools 256E that PE do on a few occasions.
