Mansfield bought more mercs to the top yard today and 1517 up there as well

Do all withdrawn vehicles have to got to Miller Street for decommissioning?

If not, it's strange that 1540 & 1541 weren't just moved in to the top yard for storage with other members of the reserve fleet

Pity pensnett didn't have the enviros

That would have been nice, but I suspect the Birmingham garages still get priority at present

Pensnett has done fairly well over the last couple of years with E400's, new B7RLE, new E200's and now Tridents

The land aggreement on top yard is for storage only no planning concent from council for breaking buses up

yes but look at how many years we've had to drive rubbish from other garages

Granted, Pensnett did for many years always have everyone's cast offs and never seemed to have the same status as other garages. It's to see Pensnett with the new buses they deserve and increasing number of double deckers

Would it be fair to say that passenger numbers on PE routes is increasing on some routes like the 246 276 and X96?

I would think so, plus PE have gained a number of higher profile/higher frequency routes over the last few years

The abomination that is 4351 is on the 141 this morning. Close up it looks like it's been embalmed in bandages like an Egyptian mummy.

There's also a PE B7RLE heading our of town down the Hagley Road in service but with all its destination equipment, front and rear, out of action.

Reserve fleet arrivals for storage are all follows:

1517, 1522, 1526, 1529 & another Dudley Rd branded Merc 1528 ?

In additional to 1658 the latest fire victim

There may be more, that is all I could see through the fence

How did 1658s fire start?

John

There was a problem with the 141s this morning. Was going to get the 10.15 from Colmore Row, that one nor the next one at 10.45 did not turn up, I ended up getting on the one that turned up at around 11.05am, with 4351 on the 11.15 not long behind. I then got to Merry Hill and 4351 and another 141 arrived both together. 4351 then left as an 141E to Five Ways

From the damage to the rear, it looked to be another engine fire.

Ashley

Im guessing thats another one for the scrapman then

As it was moved immediately in with the reserve/withdrawn fleet, that wont be repaired & seeing service ever again

Not another Merc on Fire! Another one down though. Seems the Mercs are really beginning to struggle lately. Hopefully it will provide a good call for more better buses in the future too.
