PE have lost some of their better mercs the past year or so, 1517 i think was ok, 1575 and 1578 and 1580 spring to mind the question "why were these withdrawn?"

The mercs really do seem to be struggling-b10ls seem more reliable but the problem is that PE/WB dont operate any tho they seem in far better condition than some mercs which seem to lean a lot and rattle and break down. Dont get me wrong Im not saying they were bad buses when new but they have been pounding round the west midlands and black country hills for up to 15 years so really time for them to be withdrawn in quantity

Peter123,
I think your forgetting that PE had quite a fleet of B10L's only a few years ago, which were replaced with more Mercs & the B10L's went to PB & WN instead

They had quite a big bulk of B10Ls, most of their services were B10L operated, alongside cascaded mercs from WB

Bit off topic but i saw a photo before of WN' 4549 working the 246. So is anyone aware of WN ever operating any journeys on the 246 as it was definetley 4549 on the 246.

WN Did board 256/07 which was 256 Art Gallery to Stourbridge, 0830 246 Stourbridge to Dudley, 126 to Wolvo, DEAD to depot
Thanks for the info :)

Well I hope whatever happens, busy, decent routes like the 246, 276 and X96 can get an upgrade they so deserve. These are core busy routes that deserve better buses or even DD conversion.

Ok fair point Winston, I posted it and i wish i didn't now. I made a mistake ok.

As i said in the last post Could someone possibly tell me how many E400's are on the 246 Mon-Sat as i saw a few today.

No worries!

Not sure of late on the 246, I thinks its normally no more than a couple a day. More normally on a Sat than in the week, has he summer timetable come in to effect on the Hagley Rd yet? May explain why there is more than normal?

246 DD pvr mon to fri is officially zero as 26 are used on Hagley road which leaves 3 spare. There are 4 B7 RLE spare so potentially if the DD and B7's are all available they would normally go on to the 246.

Nothing unusual at the garage when i passed by this morning.

White van man had arrived and seemed to be unloaded something which was being fitted to 1645 which had moved to the inside of the garage.

Once again only 2 Enviros 400s were present.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

just a wish, would be lovely to see the Spectras taking over some of the Dudley/Stourbridge local services, eg:246, 276, X96.

21 Spectras to get rid of 21 of the worse condition Mercs.

I would think body rot looking at 1525 last week most of the external panels have all rusted up and probably corroding, so even if the engine is fine if the chasis is rotting the bus gets striped for parts similar to the leyland link's it was the windows that contributed to them getting withdrawn.
