I'm sure I'm on the same wavelength of many here in saying that with the nature of the incident 4816 was involved in, I'd have thought they would want it as far away from Birmingham as possible, not closer...?

Trident 4609

Just what i was about to say. i thought it would of gone to another garage where services don't enter Birmingham City Centre close to where The 4816 incident happened.

I have been told its new fleetnumber but i am not allowed to say.

Same here, i would have thought that CV would have been the best place for it, yes it would have needed a coat of NXC paint. but then it would have been able to carry on it's life out of the limelight, as for most people in CV it would be just another bus.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

It will have had a repaint in any case, so it could just as easily have been done in Coventry blue. But to be fair, to people in Birmingham it will just be any other bus, only us enthusiasts will know its background. Whilst the circumstances behind 4816 are unique, other buses involved in tragic incidents like 2605 remained in Birmingham, albeit at different garages and if it is renumbered and re-registered I can't see a problem going forwards.

Bearing in mind there will be an obvious gap in the numbering system, what will be the 'official' reason for the missing fleet number?

Withdrawn due to accident damage or will the full reason be listed?

With 2154 coming to PE, at least that's another B7 that can be used on the 246, as well as 120, 140/241

Well maybe, but I'm sure it will mean a B7 will appear more often on the 9 as well, especially as the Enviro's are ageing

4816 which has now gone to Birmingham Central awating re-registering and numbering.(30/04/13)

So is BC its new home? Seems unusual as it would be the only one of its type there - unless of course BC is due some of the batch of 60 E400s due this year, which is a possibility.

I wonder if it is a sign of things to come.

Late last year or early this year, there were very faint rumours that either the Coventry road or Pershore Road routes were been upgraded. Maybe Eniro400s are due for these this year?

If BC do get some NEW Enviro's I would love the Cov Road Routes to be upgraded it will be Great to see NEW Buses on the 60 (if BC do get some) but I'll still be happy if they were to upgrade the Pershore Road Routes

Will a B7 need to appear on the 9, don't PE have enough Enviros to accommodate the 9. If the odd B7 were to appear on the 9, that would mean the Enviros could creep onto other routes, which they seem to do anyway

There probably won't be a gap in the fleet numbers, it will probably match the new buses and carry a personallised reg plate to make it look like a brand new bus

I think the reg and fleet numbers will be treated as those of a demonstrator, i.e. 4698

The Bristol Road is crying out for new buses too. It's 11 years since it last had new buses, not good for such a high profile frequent corridor. I guess the Cov Road is in a similar position.
