Interesting story. Whether the 297 was well used or not, I dont think having the 289 is going to really improve things. It just seems a way of appeasing the residents without actually providing what is really needed - vital links to Russells Hall. Residents of Cradley Heath/Quarry Bank already have plenty of links to Merry Hill. Just extending the 289 back to MH is pointless. Conversely people in Quarry Bank probably dont really want to go to West Bromwich way - connections to Russells Hall, Merry Hill and Halesowen are arguably much more needed - aka the 297!
