1707 looks like it's going to be around for a long time all the lower metal framing has been replaced

What a waste of money, surely if 5 deckers are due, it could have hung on a few weeks and then be withdrawn?
non come yet

Maybe 1707 being the last one built is being given special status too or maybe i'm reading too much into it :)

Don't know, think 1707 would make a lovely coke can! (other brands of drink are available)
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Tony

On the subject of O405s, it is noticable that the ones I saw in Spain do actually have the body builders name on (Caetano in this case) Caetano were owners of one of the incarnations of the UVG plant, so Mercedes obviously had some sort of tie up with them

Tony, Were the Spanish ones built around the same time as ours because the one in the photo look in good nick?

I am not sure how old that one is, but one big advantage the Spanish ones have is Tarragona, where that one was photographed, doesn't have to use salt on the roads

Is Tarragona near the sea though Tony, certainly a number of seaside operators in the UK have problems with sea salt corrosion.

It is. All four places I went to were coastal, Barcelona, Tarragona, Salou & Cambril. Most interesting service I used was the BusPlana 2 from Cambrils to PortAventura (Spanish Alton Towers). Advertised as every 30 minutes, it can run up to 10 an hour with extras just thrown at it, and every type of vehicle can run the extras, from locally bodied Volvo B7RLEs, right up to those Irizar PB bodied IrisBus I have put a picture of in liveries thread. Sheer luxury for a 3 mile bus service

What is going on at PE at the moment with accident damage, first 4353, 4829 & now 1704 & 4356. Is this normal or unusual to have so many buses off the road. Watch out for loan buses i suppose.

The damage to 4829 couldn't have been to bad as it is out on the 9 today, indeed 4829, 4809 & 4815 all passed me in Lye High Street within 2 minutes at around 11:45!
