I would think it's replacing LH basically.

Yes as LH is to be re-advertised for sale as the original purchasers are dragging their feet.

I suggested on an earlier thread that the additional plot could be being used to house some of the reserve fleet & it got thrown out.....

work from wa to wn
451 from wb to pb
other brum work from wb to bc
and wa to opperate all wb local routes
thats my guess for the night

I can confirm the roof is being worked on currently at WB.

Looking on Google Earth there is a pic of the overflow with 47 buses parked up.
remember Cleveland Rd. They have a track record for throwing money down the pan. Could be just maintenance

238 already at Pensnett.

It's switched so many times I've lost track!
688 is another boomerang route

Pensnett is over capacity at the moment. Many buses have to be parked in the roadway at night. So the additional land will be used to correct this and provide adequate car parking for staff. Also some of the reserve fleet I am told will be stored here. Makes sense. Good security provided by the trading estate. Plus I also hear that engineering support are also to have a base here. The Sandwell review could be used to alter the 127/8 82 and what have you in which case it wouldn't be difficult to close Oak Ln and redistribute the routes in much the way Karl has described.

I doubt the 688 will go back to Pensnett there have no buses suitable for the service they used to have the solo's which they used when they had the 688 and i doubt they will recieve two darts from WB to operate the service as that will be introducign another vehicle type.

Buses are transfered between garages based on operational requirements. Sometimes if a garage fails to meet service out a spare vehicle will be borrowed from a neighbouring garage for the day. One such case was a PL Trident was borrowed last autumn and used  on the 246.

Moving routes into Pensnett garage saves Travel money in ways that may not be immediately obvious. At Pensnett we do not get paid travelling time. So where as West Bromwich pays its drivers to travel from the garage to Oldbury to start or end their shift Pensnett drivers receive no such payment travel to or from Dudley. Also, as we are constantly having our noses rubbed in this! Pensnett's duty scheduling agreements are more flexible than most of the other garages allowing managers to more efficiently schedule the work.

Don't forget that 30 midi buses are scheduled for delivery later this year.  I heard at a TUF that the 14 Darts are high on the priority list for withdrawal, so the 688 (if it survives the Sandwell Bus Review unscathed) could be a candidate for new buses.

Ash

So the midi buses could be shared between West Brom and Pensnett with 14 of them replacing the darts currently at WB. With the sandwell bus review it wouldnt suprise me if the services they operate get changed or ammended as there only allocated to services  414/444/644/688 on a permanent basis and also get used on the 428/9 which used to be fully b6le. The 'old mini link' service at WB have shrunk alot since the rebrand a number of years ago with diamond and midlands operating some of the services under a different numbered route.

Most garages do not get paid travelling time it just depends on union agreements  so moving routes to pensnett would not always save money.  What about dead milage if a lot of wn routes went to pn money is used on that in fuel same with other routes they would want the world does not revolve around pennsnett like I said get realistic and travel time may not be kept via wage agreements in the future
