Quote from: GoldenSquid on May 13, 2025, 02:16:39 AMWas talking to another about it recently, it'd work so well imo. But it'd seem nx have became "scared" of timetabled short journeys - it's worked well in the past.

I am certain that if it was from city the departures were:
xx:00 94 | xx:05 95E Fox & Goose | xx:10 95 |  xx:15 94 | xx:20 95E Fox & Goose | xx:25 95 |
xx:30 94 | xx:35 95E Fox & Goose | xx:40 95 |  xx:45 94 | xx:50 95E Fox & Goose | xx:55 95 |

something like that could be done to the 97 as well, as thats a route that defo needs more buses, even if it was to heartlands hospital or even Stechford
Yeah, I 100% agree with the idea of some extra short journeys at peak times. Although it wouldn't benefit me directly as I typically go from the city towards Chelsmley Wood way, I think just taking extra load off the high demand areas of a route would benefit everyone. The 97 especially from my experience would definitely benefit from some short journeys between the city centre and Bordesley Green/Heartlands, as it can get very packed on that section of the route at peak hours. Off peak it's not too bad, but it would be interesting to see if would help alleviate some of the pressure.

The new X20 timetable is now on the TfWM website.

As expected it's going via Weoley Castle and Swarthmore Road. Strange it's not fitting with the X21/X22 to provide and intragrated frequency between City and University

By the looks of it, it isn't serving Weoley Castle despite what it says. Going via Shenley Fields to Northfield.

There's already one not in use stop on Shenley Fields Road but looking at the stop list another will have to be put up. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

In any case, IIRC this is the way that tfwm wanted the 46 to go initially. I am surprised it's taking this route though unless the 46/46A is going.
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

The route map looks like it's going via Weoley Park Rd and Castle Rd rather than Shenley Fields.

The old 44 and the short-lived 20 c.2009/10 took the former on their way to Weoley Castle Square so a bit of a throwback.

Yes, I couldn't load the map for whatever reason earlier but you are right. Not sure why it's going down Weoley Park Rd, Castle Rd and then back on itself instead of just going down Shenley Field Road to Middle Park Rd.

I do remember the 44, can't say I remember the 20.

It replaced most of the 44 between Bham and Northfield and a curtailed 49 between Northfield and Rubery. Curious route, didn't last very long and used Mercedes 0405s run from Bordesley depot.

Now that the timetable has released I can finally talk about the X20 route more, as I didn't wanna be the one to leak the route 🤣. Let me know if you've got any questions about it, I can try and answer them.

Will the X20 be on its own or join the X21 x22 but I've seen a comment saying they don't integrate with them.

Will the X20 be a platinum allocated route or just any bus?

Lasltly what information can you tell us about the x20😂

It looks like journeys to Bromsgrove will do a u-turn at the Hare and Hounds.

Will the Rednal shorts do the same or will they turn around at Rednal Island so they can pick up passengers from the stop outside the H + H currently served by the 20A?

- X20 will be on the uni rota (with the X21/X22). Running boards nor duties have been released yet so not sure on how they will work together. Bit weird they don't have a nice combined frequency between city and uni.

- BC nowadays is any bus for any route, there was a rumor going around that it'd be non-platinum only as they were worried for limp mode, but that was just drivers joking around

- very fun route, new location for a timing point, I think it's the first time the stop outside of maccies has been used as a timing point?

The X20 is every 30 minutes on it's own, the X21/X22 will continue to provide the current frequency of every 10 minutes.

With BC losing the every 20 mins (daytimes) X2, but gaining the half hourly X20, and every second bus having a round trip time of 3 hours, I can't imagine there would be much of a PVR reduction for the garage.

I'm assuming so, as per the timetable on tfwm. I think the outbound services doing the U-turn (unlike the current 20) is to try and serve Cofton hacket just about.

In regards to BC allocations 63/01 & 97/01 & 41/71 on weekends are 75XX. I assume the newer bus is better for the overnight running boards? You'll never even see a 68XX on there even.
I think the overnight staff bus uses a 75XX as welll, I've seen it on Priory Queensway, Cardigan Street, Saltley Gate etc.

X20 mostly platinum and a handful of 48XX/49XX in the mix I'd think

Local Routes
94/95, 11A/11C, 28.
