QuoteX39 could be confusing for passengers who aren't the brightest thinking it is an an express version of the 39 Walsall - Stowlawn Bus emitting the Manor Hospital and skipping Herberts Park for example it does now mean the 997 has lost it's highest route number in the country to another NX service the new 998.
Whilst I agree. Aren't there two 36 routes in Walsall that are entirely different services?
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

this isn't the case, yet again i have to say:

the X5 literally crosses paths with TWO **DIFFERENT** services numbered 5, and nobody thinks the X5 is related to either of them

Quote from: Jack on April 25, 2025, 02:35:03 PMHow can it be? For a start the 39 and 997 don't serve the same bus stations and do completely different routes and completely different directions to each other. I don't see people in Sutton struggling with the WB 5 and the X5 stopping next to each other. Or when Birmingham had the 31 stopping literally round the corner from the X31...

I'm happy they are keeping the 9** numbers and not making them X cause yes they are limited stops but not express at all, the X51 is express.
Is limited stop not the same as express? to speed up travel time and improve efficiency of the route?

I've just looked at the TfWM for new timetables starting 1st June, 2025 and this is what I found:

934, 935 both withdrawn.
936 to run all day replacing 934 to Walsall and serving Frampton Way, every 30 mins Mon to Sat, every 20 minutes in peaks and hourly evenings and Sunday
937 will now serve Rough Road and George Frederick Road, every 30 mins Mon to Sat, every 20 minutes in peaks and hourly evening and Sundays.

936/937 every 15 mins to Kingstanding, every 10 mins in peaks.

997 Frampton Way no longer served.
998 NEW replacing 997 shorts but also not serving Frampton Way, then Hundred Acre to Hardwick Arms.

Frequency similar to the present 997 timetable.

to me X should be xpress on the same route missing out the majority of stops, I find it confusing when routes such as the 8 go to completely different places if its an X or not,
use of separate numbers instead of prefix or suffix across the region to avoid confusion was much simpler

What on earth are you going on about?
You find a big Birmingham or Wollaston Farm on the front, nearside & rear confusing?

I looked up the 997 and when I clicked onto the timetable starting 1st June I noticed that the short journeys were not shown on the timetime, so I put in 998 and there it was.

The new revised 936, 937, 997 and 998 will also be serving Perry Barr One Stop and will be using stop PD currently used by the 33 and 907, that's an extra 8 buses an hour (10-12 in peaks) using this stop.
This might mean the 907 could move to the 52 stop.
I can't see the 33 moving to a different stop because of 33/936/937 serving Kingstanding Road and 33/997/998 serving Pheasey.

Judging by new TfWM timetables the 78/78A will have a change in route -

Cremorne Road stop on Lichfield Road no longer served by 78
Both will serve Blackwood Road and Bridle Lane to Hundred Acre Road, instead of Hazelwood Road and Lowlands Avenue in Streetly

Would make more sense for the 51 and 52 to stop together again and the 907 could have its own stop.
