Wonder if the presidents will gain branding, or whether the rumour is true and pe enviros gain the 11 branding. Having said that the 9 must have quite a lot of miles done

Have you noticed 4829 has transferred to Perry Barr (who do not operate the 11!)

It has been discussed though, so will the presidents gain branding tony?

Been discussed by whom?

Stu

Personally I don't see the point in branding up the Presidents if they are expected to start being withdrawn this year.

What people fail to have missed in Tony's announcement about the next routes to be branded, is that there is no timescale. It could happen in the next couple of weeks, or next couple of months.

Maybe all will become clear once the new vehicles start to arrive from March, personally I can see a few more Geminis coming into AG, which will then see the Outer Circle receive branding again.

Just my thoughts and observations...
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I'm thinking the worst of the Presidents will most likely be withdrawn during this year following receipt of the new buses, with other examples being cascaded out of AG & YW to other garages that don't operate in to the B'ham City Centre. I'd also expect the Outer Circle to become fully operated by Gemini that have been recently refurbished if being branded is being applied, the additional Gemini's for AG would most likely come from both PB & WA.

The Presidents are enough for the 11, the Geminis are busy with other routes and the 11 route is busy so I think the branding should be handed over to the Presidents, although the age.

The Presidents were only really a stop gap for the 11, something that was forced on the company due to the city centre emissions ruling. I'm sure it will go back to Gemini operation as Presidents get cascaded elsewhere. There really seems little point in branding a 14 year old bus now.

But isn't that just a stop gap because PB are short of buses or are we to read more into it?

As AG have more than 28 Presidents, then yes if they get new buses for the 11 or transfer of Geminis (can't see them branding the Presidents), then the likelyhood of PE getting 28 or more Presidents goes up.

In my opinion, if they are thinking of running the 9 with Tridents, it will be a big big mistake.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

It would be nice to have older Tridents as the main allocation for the 9.

Did I read that right - Has 4829 actually been transferred? And will the other PE Enviros go to PB also?

Are you sure, given the reliability issues of the Tridents before Christmas, i would say No No No to them on the 9!

Yes 4829 is now a PB bus, with 823 transferring back to PE from WB.

The company has officially announced what two of the next routes to receive branding are today
YW - 35 (vehicles also to receive names)
AG - 11A/C

Ironically both of my locals... Must admit I'm pleased about that, both routes deserve branding!

I hope you do something creative with the 11 branding, and don't just apply a bog standard branding style. Something like this (bottom photo):
http://wmbusphotos.com/NXWM/4475-4699/4659.html
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
Local Routes: 21, 89, 48/A, 12/A, 54/A
Semi-local routes: 80, 87

Another thought, we have assumed that the 35 is NOT to receive new buses, however what if it is, this would free up some of the 47XX Enviros which could be transferred to PE to allow the 48XX Enviros to transfer to PB?

I would have thought the 50 would be higher priority for new buses over the 35 if YW were due any.
