Quote from: Wumpty on Yesterday at 08:42:42 AMGiven all of the discussion about the Tridents in the "Withdrawn" thread, I noticed an Instagram post from westmidlandsbusphotos who posted a photo of 4125 with the the following:

"4125 :  the nicest looking & worst performing heritage bus......"

Not sure I understand what they were trying to say, but is this REALLY the worst performing heritage bus? It's out in service, it's earning its keep, it's a moving billboard for NX, so unsure what the poster was implying.

Thoughts?
Correct me if its wrong but it wouldnt suprise me if its gone through a fair decent amount of part changes, engines gearboxes etc

It probably has, like many buses which is testament to the engineering teams at NXWM - all I'm asking is if it really IS the worst performing heritage bus as the post states?

It's outlived 4535, and the other part-preserved buses bought with a view to joining the heritage fleet.
Autofare 3 - the ticket that laughs in the face of contactless!

It will have done over half a million miles as well (It averages around 25-30,000 miles a year). Not many 'city' buses where average speeds are low will get near that, and most buses on long fast routes get taken off and replaced quite quickly, look how often Transdev replace the buses on their 36 route at Harrogate for example.

4125 has operated on a raft of stage carriage and limited stop services, so to still be in full time service nearly 25 years on is hardly the worst performing bus, let alone a heritage bus.

Do you think there's still longevity in 4125 as a bus, not necessarily heritage status?

This year's MoT will be the last NX do on it, but it will be offered for sale as a runner unless anything major breaks on it, whether that's for preservation or an operator will depend on who wants it.

MSU2008

4125 has passed MOT today back in service currently tracking for the 41 towards Willenhall.

How much do you recon 4125 will sell for?

At the moment you would expect to pay in the range of £10,000 to £15,000 for a euro 6 Trident, obviously that will drop as they get older still.

Ah yeah that's a decent price for national express actually as for getting money in.

I thought 4125 was gonna join NX's hertiage fleet and be used for Private Hire, I hope it gets persevered, 25 years still as strong as ever, Livery and internal refurb to when it was brand new. It doesn't deserve scrapping but I'm not a bus mechanic so it may have underlying issues apart from rust as any veichle that age will but as NX have done recent welding hopefully this isn't to much of an issue.
