Do the X51 and 997 interwork during the off peak hours? E.g

1140 from Walsall arrives into Birmingham at 1215.
Does it then work the 1218 X51 back to Walsall, or the 1223 997 to Walsall?

Or do they just interwork during the peaks?

Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me on this.

From what I can work out the X51 interworks with the 997E shorts, the full 997 is stand alone during the day.
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

It does a 997E there and back, then a 997 there and back, then another 997E there and back, then a X51 there and back, then another X51 there and back, And then goes round again.

Thanks for the explanation - can get a bit complex at times then!

Does anyone know why the 997 & X51 now interwork?

Could the 997 & X51 change so they don't interwork?

I'd imagine they could. I'd take a guess that the main reason for the change is to allow better duties to be created for drivers.

Previously, they'd do a 997 to Birmingham, 997E to Pheasey, 997E to Birmingham, 997E to Pheasey, 997E to Birmingham, 997 to Walsall. This meant an unbreakable on bus total of 4h50. The standard driver works an average 7h36 shift, which would be awkward to achieve.

The current workings mean there are more opportunities for driver reliefs at Walsall.

Does the 997 interwork with anything on a Sunday? Or do the X51 & 934E/935A still interwork?

I assume that dears leap is the outer terminus if so the company has put in drop back time there these aren't breaks its company time. I.e if lay over is of ten minutes and bus your driving is running late it allows you to recover the time on the return journey, not always possible. Drivers at NX west Midlands don't get paid breaks. As for better dutys don't make me laugh, while at Walsall the other I had a look at there dutys they are terrible and I thought the west brom dutys were crap.

1406/1407/1408 have been parked in Walsall yard for a few weeks. I thought they was either just stored here or to be converted to Trainers.

I`m glad 1408 is re-instated hopefully 1406/1407 will be as well.

Enterprising driver on the first X51 from Cannock this morning, handing out photostat timetables of the temporary change until May.

Centro havent updated roadside timetables yet though.

Not many people on that bus though unless they are waiting for the earlier second bus?

Tony

Walsall have now got 1407 fit for service and its first day out today is on a 34/38/39 running board.

The extra two B10Ls mean that they are spreading there wings a bit 1436 is out all day on the 77, 1419 is on a morning peak board on the 77
