Quote from: Roy on February 28, 2025, 06:11:25 PMHourly Manchester Piccadilly to Bristol Temple Meads (southbound only) and Plymouth to Edinburgh (northbound only) will be stopping at Worcestershire Parkway station from the May timetable change.
That's brilliant, because splitting tickets at Worcestershire Parkway to the West Country saves a fortune, so no need to change onto the Cardiffs at Cheltenham

Wonder what the cost of doing Cardiff to Brum by train doing split ticketing will be. Something to investigate.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

Won't make a difference to Cardiff.

Are there any other train companies that travel New St to Derby so i don't have to use this woefully inadequate company? Every single time ive used them the overcrowding and under capacity is horrific. Trains are pretty minging too

Crikey.

I think theyve been voted worst operator in the UK

I'm not surprised! For the prices they charge for tickets, the 'passenger experience' is woefully underwhelming.

But it's not just CrossCountry - other train operators are having the same issues with shortage of available carriages as well as staff/crew shortages, see also West Midlands Trains and Transport For Wales.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

with regards to the ticket splits

if anyome is going from b'ham to wales, trainline only splits the tickets at gloucester or chelthenam once, i wouldnt be suprised if they only split once for other routes

using a different app for the cheapest fare we should:
wales- gloucester*
gloucester*-chelthenam
cheltenham-worcestershire p way
worcestershire p way- b'ham

it is sometimes cheaper to split at lydney or chepstow, either do your own research or use a split ticketing app that is not trainline to check.

child return varies from £21-£25 depending on where you split and advance singles

adult single split is just under £30.
not split £40

child single £10- £15
£25 not split

adult return not split £80
split is around £58

these all vary on dates n times but these are using apps n crosscountry website u could probably get prices cheaper or more expensive than the above

Looks like some sort of signaling/points problem I think. A Liverpool - Nottingham service was also held at Sheffield for 48 mins at around the same time and other trains were delayed through a junction between Sheffield and Chesterfield.

Ah I see fair enough luckily there was a train to where he had to go at 8pm so he made it for that one
