Commonwealth Games 2022

With the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham in 2022, surely that would mean buses going through Perry Barr then via Walsall Road, Aldridge Road, College Road and Kingstaning Road would be improved, made more frequent, more express routes - any thoughts:

Mine thoughts are:
Improving the Aldridge Road to the Boars Head by reducing or removing the central reservation and installing bus lanes to make Kingstanding Road/College Road buses faster and more frequent.
Trains on the Walsall/Chase Line all stopping at Perry Barr and Witton.

Before we get four years of speculation of what changes there will be to the 51 and if it will get new buses, if it's anything like Glasgow then there'll be shuttle buses, shed loads of them, hired in from all over the country. Running from venues to the city centre for example. I don't think we will see too many drastic changes to bus services, but some changes to infrastructure such  as bus lanes and traffic light priority schemes are the way forward.

Sprint routes are to be finished by 2022:
Between Birmingham City Cente and Walsall along the A34.
Along the Coventry Road between the City Centre and Solihull and the Airport.
Along the Tyburn Road between Birmingham City Centre, Walmley and Sutton Coldfield.

I'll be interested to see how NXWM handled services to the swimming centre on Londonderry Lane currently covered by the WB89. I honestly can't think of a worse place for it to be built, in a heavily residential area, on narrow roads and currently a 30 minute service during the day, hourly at night.

Living not far from there, I'm expecting it to be a complete nightmare for us locals.
Watching the 24's go driving by...

God will they just let that thing die already...
I'm hoping they will do what Glasgow did with shuttles etc, and not let the local services suffer

Regarding trains I could see improvements to services using Perry Barr but doubt Witton will see anything
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I'm sure First Group would be happy to offload their remaining FTR's, those that haven't been scrapped at least!

They would be better using the money to create infrastructure that can benefit all bus services across the region

The 120/120A stop close by (10 minute frequency). As do the 48/48A
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

Most used routes in bold

Having experienced games transport at both London 2012 and Glasgow 2014, you'd be amazed what a slick, professional, almost military like coordination and planning. It was very impressive. You won't have to worry about thousands of spectators trying to get on an hourly 89 service.

Yes, I know, I currently live in Hales Lane and have lived round the Londonderry area most of my life, what I meant was the onlydirect NXWM service stopping outside the current playing fields is the WB89.

Londonderry Lane and the surrounding roads will not be able to cope with the influx of traffic and extra bus services needed to transport people to the new swimming centre, as someone who lives in Smethwick it's good to see we will be part of the Commonwealth Games, I can't help feeling that there are better places in Smethwick it could be built.
