Am I right in thinking there used to be 79 branded Mercs? Same colour as what the 74 branding used to be, and it was before the Tridents came about, when WB still operated the 79. I'm sure I used to catch them as a kid but I've never seen any photos 🤔

Don't quote me. But I feel like there was. The branding was green is I remember correctly. I can't find any pictures of it anywhere

QuoteJust seen 6971 without its 82/87 branding replaced with that ugly sticker slapped on it. Feels weird seeing it without the branding
I know the platinum brand is obsolete now, but I think the original decals should've been kept and applied to debranded "platinums".

While I don't hate the new red stickers (they look horrible on the BU07 enviros), they look uninspiring compared to the original platinum decals you see on 6759-6762, 6791-6799, 6818-6839, 6850-6857, 6890-6892, they look classy, upmarket and prestige

Heck, even the newer red diamond style branding was half decent

I thought green was for the 59 and the red on green was the 1
Unless you are refering to something like 4320
Had a look through buses and found 404 as green and 74 as a redish but nothing with 79

The Mercedes  O405N I've noted were

Green branded for 404
Orange branded for 74
Yellow branded for 451 ?? - have photo on 1627 on route 451 with yellow band applied but no lettering
Orange branded for Network Harborne
no colour band for 66 66A
Yellow branded for X96
Dark Blue branded for 94

and the two versions of Coventry based Merc's for PrimeLine.

There were some 43xx Tridents branded for the 79, which used the same colour as the 74 Mercs. I don't remember any 79 branded Mercs. A picture of one of the Tridents here:

94 was brown. Arguably the worst of the coloured branding.

1530, 1533, 1536, 1613-21 were 79 branded. Don't quote me on that.

Thanks! Was starting to think I was going mad! I remember the green 404 and orange 74 0405N branded, and I've seen lots of pictures. Wonder why there are hardly any 79 pics?

120 Birmingham - Dudley also had non-coloued branding

Mega Kickdown

does 4955 rev to 2000rpm if you put your foot down or is it in the same fuel saving mode as 4978?

Mega Kickdown

id reckon that some of these 74 enviros are the quickest E40Ds at NXWM compared to how much slower the Birmingham Central ones are
