Perry Barr used to run the 993, 994 & 934. I know the 993 ran to Hardwick Arms via Banners Gate, the 994 to Streetly via Warren Farm and Hundred Acre as well as the 934 to Foley Arms. The evidence comes from photos of 4763 - 4767 and memories. Out of curiosity does anyone know the frequencies and line of route for these 3 routes?

I remember the 994 didn't last long

Can't remember as that was years ago. Originally is was just the 934A to the Asda but the 934 was amended to go to Queslett instead of the Foley Arms, which both the 934/A served until June 2013. I think the 934 went to the Asda Queslett when the leather seated Omnilinks moved to the 52 in 2009.

The 934B did go to Pheasey. Not sure if that went to Asda at some point though.

Didnt PB run the entire Nx Aldridge to Brum corridor at one point after certain routes were transferred?

When Wmt (I think?) ran the 156 tendered journeys, who ran them, PB or Walsall?

@Jack B
Apologies, I must've mixed up the 934/A with the 934B. I kept a mental image of a bus parked up at the Asda terminus; I could've swore it had 934B on the display, but the photo doesn't lie.  :-[ (bottom photo)

Yeah. The 934B went some time in 2010.
That location was a hotspot for me to get photos. It's a shame nothing terminates up there.

There was a 995 to Brownhills as well in the 90s. It was a timesaver route but strangely always had bus seated metrobuses usually mk2a on it. Ah the 156....used to be all the way from Cannock to Brum run by midland red north then Arriva. I used to love that route. They kept messing about with the route and timetable and eventually killed it off

Jack

The 997A and 997B. The 997A went sometime in August 2010? After PB sent 4763-4767 to Walsall. The 997B was withdrawn around December 2009/January 2010 time.

The modern PB express routes 934/993 did not really interest  me. I was very fond of pre 2001 PB limited stop routes 158 913 995 996 997 998 starting in 1990 using brand new Mk2as then later Timesaver metrobuses in 92/3.

158 Birmingham kingstanding Aldridge Pelsall Bloxwich
913 Birmingham New Oscott Streetly Mere Green Sutton
995 Birmingham kingstanding Aldridge Brownhills
996 Birmingham Kingstanding Streetly Sutton Coldfield
997 Birmingham kingstanding pheasey Aldridge Walsall
998 Birmingham kingstanding Pheasey Deers leap

Thesse was proper limited stop services between Birmingham kingstanding calling only at

Birmingham Dale End
Miller street
Barton Arms
Perry barr one stop
Wellhead lane UCE today's BCU
Perry Barr Boars Head (Church Road to City)
Hawthorn Road
Kingstanding Circle then all stops to outer terminus except 997

Service 913 from Boars head all stops to Sutton via College road Chester Road

Service 997 all stops kingstanding to Rushall then Limited stop to Walsall.

158 passed to WA June 1999 with service 51 replaced by 958 in September 2006 later becoming 997B January 2007.
913 to WA September 2001 withdrawn May 2002
995 to WA October 2000 withdrawn apart from odd peak journeys.
996 to WA September 2001 withdrawn in May 2006
Replaced by service 993 Birmingham Streetly and 196 Sutton Streetly today's central buses 78.
997 to WA still runs connects Perry barr pheasey and Aldridge and Rushall but a completely different route.
998 withdrawn January 2000 replaced by all stop 34 service which became 934 in May 2006.

At Perry Barr the 913 995 996 997 998 was on perry common rota with service 7 quite a good rota compared to today just being pared with 65.

Service 158 on Perry Beeches rota with 52 51 and some work on 46/91.

PB Timesaver fleet 1999

2913 2917 2923 2924 2941 2943 2944 2947 2948 2950 2951 2953 2954 2955

I rode thease route regularly at PB and loved them its a shame there gone and today's 934/5/6/7 997 don't match up to these once great routes.

The 99x range of routes were never flagged as Timesavers was they?

Seem to recall a mention in a Buses magazine years ago profiling WMT, that around the time of the repaint from the original livery to the blue & gold livery, it had been decided to drop some Timesaver routes to the status of ordinary limited stop services.
@Tony  Is that correct?

PB2938

The 99x was more limited stop routes except the 998 during the 80s used Timesaver nationals but was ingreated in with new limited stop network in March 1990 995 996 997 998 replacing the previous 155 157and 998.

They only time I recall Timesaver liveried vehicles being used was in 1995 when Hockley/Walsall Timesaver liveried vehicles transferred to PB while standard WMT livery moved to WA/HY. This time was the end of Timesaver livery era with all being repainted into standard WMT livery or WM buses livery at the time 1995.
