I thought the main difference was that 4697 has a 6 cylinder engine and the others have the newer 5 cylinder, even though both are approximately 9 litres.

And I think I'm right in saying 4697 is Euro 3, as it was the 5 cylinder that was Euro 4/5. So it would have had to be modified to work into the city centre.

Yeah. A rough indication to what's Euro 4 is that they're 06/56 plate onwards. I think with Volvos for example, B7TLs are Euro 3 and B9TLs are Euro 5 and B5TLs are Euro 6.

Yes. 4697 and 4698 were Euro 3. Anything made in 2006 or before is Euro 3.

Also is 4697 low height or am I just imagining that

4697 has been nowhere near East Lancs.

Use the main fleetlist for details, not guesswork. It was bodied at the Scania plant in Poland

But that body was designed by East Lancs coachbuilding.

Just re-done my website.  Check it out to see all my photos.  Updated almost every day!

Stevo

I'm pretty certain it wasn't, as East Lancs had their own body on that chassis - the OmniDekka. I don't think they'd design one for the opposition.

Absolutely nothing to do with East Lancs whatsoever

This is an East Lancs bodied Scania Omnidekka:

Completely different to NXWM's examples

The front looks the same and the back only has minor changes.  I seem to recall that most of the early N94's (such as 4697) were bodied with EL- designed but Scania-built bodies.

You recall wrong, accept what numerous people are telling you.

The lower front underneath windcreen / rear bonnet etc come from Scania as part of chassis.
